Fantastic video, the last part is upsetting but the message is painfully clear. I live in Brisbane Australia and it would be so hard to imagine something like that happening to our Great Barrier Reef.
By the way is that Eddie and his girls in the film clip.
Can't say for sure, but I think that is one of his girls . . . the older one (still quite young!!) :-) I know what she looks like, although it's kinda hard to tell w/ those goggles. She is beautiful!
The paint used on these tankers inhibit growth of any life. As the tanker tore up a couple miles of reef, it coated the reef in this paint. Not the magnitude of the gulf but still enough to get angry over.
I am happy to see PJ doing videos again- I really wanted them to do a video for "Come Back" (from the last album) as a tribute to all our fallen heroes- That would be a tear jerker-
I think it is funny when you see other videos like rap or other stupid ones whery thay talk about what thay have and got cars, gold, women in small shorts or thongs, not cool.Basic love water oceans surfboard and Eds cool daughter. not toooooooo much just right, just like our Moon and Universe.
I grew up on the ocean and I cry when I see pictures of the irresponsibility of the oil companies ruining our earth. Resources the earth provides are ther for us to use responsibly.
This video sums up why i love pj and eddie, all about the beauty of our world and how we can ruin it all by irresposible acts, we need more bands like them to keep the focus on what we have and how it can be lost so easily..... love Pearl Jam!!!!
to me, the lyrics speak volume of where eddie was so many years ago... a most reflective song put in a way that unless you know the bands story seems like any other song.. beautifully written... the reason PJ has withstood the test of time... the music & the lyrics have a profound meaning with many relevance....
"I can feel Like I
Have a soul that has been saved
I can feel like I
Put away my early grave"
Love it, I live a block from our beach in Semaphore, South Australia and I couldn't live without it. I have just had a little girl 3 months ago and couldn't imagine her going without it either.
As good as it gets! The first time I heard this song it became an instant classic for me. Vintage Pearl Jam. The boys sound as good as they ever have. And the writing, superb. Can't wait to see it live!
love there whole catalogue but theres just something different and uplifting about backspacer my only fear is never seeing them in concert i live in oklahoma and they havnt been here since the riot act tour

That's such a powerful song for so many reasons to me personally. It really makes ya' think. Love it, love my band, as always.
Great to see Eddie in love with his family and our planet. So many bands fail to live up to expectations. These guys just keep exceeding them.

On the upside... One of Pearl Jam's best works.
Proud to be a Ten Club member!

Amongst the Waves is my favorite song for many reasons.
The video... love it, love it love it!
The message at the end... Amen, Amen, Amen!
Let's leave the world a better place
for our children and grandchildren.
nice, but were is eddie between all those waves? :(
This has become my favorite song. Without even knowing what the song means to Eddie, I know exactly what it means to me.
