I thought that my PJ tour had ended on June 7th here in Phoenix. But when they announced an acoustic show, in Seattle, on their anniversary I was more than ready to squeeze one more show into my budget. My friends little brother managed to get us 4 tickets in the Orchestra row 23. Our seats were amazing. The venue even more amazing. You could hear a pin drop the sound was so good. My favorites of the show were "Masters of War", I told my friend I would have flown from Phoenix to see this one song, as they had only played it once at the Dylan tribute years before. "Black" was really amazing with the crowd sing along. I still get goosebumps when I listen to that version. "Low Light" was beautiful and special for me. "Off He Goes" you couldn't ask for a better live version of that song in my opinion. This show will always have a special place in my heart. I'm not even sure what I did the rest of the time I spent in Washington later that week because all I could think about was the concert. Probably one of the most amazing shows this band has ever played. I even like that Stone fucks up "Thin Air".
I had two tickets to this show and I will never forget that I had to sell them. How unfortunate... Ho well, I believe it was made into a CD. I haven't bought it yet, but I will. Then I will find out what I was really missing.
I love it when you hear a live version of one of your favorite PJ songs that you've never heard before that has been available for a long time already and they completely blow you away...Immortality is one of my favorite PJ songs as is Off He Goes. The live versions of these songs from this CD are the best I've ever heard, and I've been a PJ fan since 1993. I got goosebumps listening to them for the first time...just this past week. Isn't it amazing how PJ can make you feel like a kid again, over and over again? Like you're hearing your favorite song for the first time? I guess I'm at a loss for words to describe what I'm talking about.
I don't know what it means but seeing Pearl Jam live has provided me with 2 out of the top 5 best days of my life. The San Jose State Spartan Stadium show back in November of 1995 and of course Halloween night at the Spectrum from 2009. Halloween night at the spectrum was as close to heaven as I've felt. No joke.
