Despite all the talk of the F--kin Heat, we all had a awesome time ,it was a long day and i would not have done it---if not for being a PJ Fan.
Ed didn't do 'Comeback' but i had an awesome day i will remember it forever.
never been so hot in all my life - 5 squished rows from front - wouldn't have changed a thing. A true Fan's Concert. So glad to hear Crazy Mary and Porch. Bring on Touring Band 2009 DVD Please!
PJ played Courdroy after Interstellar Overdrive, can someone this add to the setlist please?
What an awesome gig! Even though Eddie was suffering with the flu and couldn't get some of the high notes, his voice sounded amazing.
I was very happy to hear Mankind, Whipping and Garden :o)
Thanks to the Ten Club for getting us into the Fixer field, what a great view. Roll on Auckland!
Come back already! We miss you guys! Such a great show on Sunday night with so many great moments. Was great to see Eddie getting amongst it in the crowd. They have such a great stage presence! Favs from evening?.. to many to mention but definitely whipping, Garden and Porch are worth a shout out. A special shout out to the lovely boy who was next to me... See you next time PJ, come again soon!
Great show as always. I mean really is there ever a bad PJ show? So they left out/didnt play alive, better man, last kiss, daughter etc. but we have all heard these live before so no great loss to me. I was stoked to hear SoLaT and Crazy Mary and also Unthought Known! fantastic song. Loved the whole night.
Did Ed play an opener as i was stuck in trafic and didnt get there in time.
Why hasnt the set list been put up on here yet?
And does anyone know when the Australian bootlegs will be available?
Sydney show was awesome i was in the 2nd part on the grass against the fence. I agree it was an unbelievable show. They played a great setlist. they played heaps of the older stuff which was great and oh my god what an opening! WHY GO! Ben harper deserve a pat on the back too. The 2nd time i have seen him. Although my first with relentless 7. He is phenonminal musician. liam finn was great too. One downer there was this drunk fool who was moshing like a dickhead and pushin his way through everyone and was told a number of times by security to tone it down and didnt. he was purposly jumping into my girlfriend so i grabbed him by the throat and pushed him away. I got no problems moshing and having a good time but it was 42degrees!! And whats the point of getting pissed youll forget half of it. And im pretty sure the mr stands for mark richards. he is an aussie surfer that eddie is a big fan of. the mr is the symbol on marks surfboards. Can't wait for them to come back
Great show, the guys absolutely smashed it! Setlist was awesome, is it possible to have a bad PJ setlist? Agree there was a lot of sitters in the stands. Maybe next time will get tickets through 10C and get closer to the action, stupid ass.
Please don't make us wait another 3 yrs fellas.
Bought a stubby holder at the Sydney gig that has the superman logo with PJ in it on one side but has MR in it on the other and can not work out what it means!! Please help.....it's really bugging me.
As usual, the boys delivered a fantastic set of our favourite tracks. How good it was to hear alot of the oldies too! A true PJ fan could never be dissappointed with any setlist they play. The crowd in the Gold reserve seating area where the same as the second show in Sydney back in '06, lame and unwilling to get on their feet and FEEL the heart and soul of the music. Can you believe I got asked to sit down??? WTF, it's a rock concert not a night at the opera!! Sydney PJ fans need to lift next time, but show rocked for me!!!!
I agree with KR288788, crowd around me in stand was boring, similar to second concert in 2006. Chugg did poorly to set stadium up with atmosphere. BUT how awesome were PJ and Eddie did so well with Flu, you wouldn'thave really noticed except for pulling out of a few long high notes and cutting it at Rock. I got what I wanted...a hard rocking start that just went on and on, with some great surprises. I can't wait for my next show. I think i'll need to travel. It was my first intersteller, and how good was MFC...
I still cannot believe we got to hear Garden... that was so bloody amazing!!! It is one of the best songs ever written - lyrics and the music - and that performance was incredible.
Given that my last Sydney show opened with Better Man (which brought butterflies to all our tummies), to start with Why Go was truly unbelievable. I was hoping that they'd play it live and to open the gig with that... they could have stopped the show after that, and I would still have felt like I got what I wanted.
Light Years was brilliant and so was Red Mosquito, Down, State of love and trust, Indifference and Mankind!!! Stone has a pretty awesome voice...
I still can't believe they played Whipping... that was so bad ass!!!
What a great show... and this is exactly why we love all of you so much :) Eddie may have been pretty sick, but he was amazing... and so what if the set was cut short, the songs they played will keep a gigantic smile on my face for years to come :)
And then I got to see Opeth the next night... this is what life's meant to be like :D
P.S. Thank you Ten Club for making it such an amazing night for us... I was in the fourth row and it was so awesome! The security folks were so good to us too... they took real good care of everyone. Great job all around... I know Eddie will be happy because it truly did feel like we had a big campfire there :)
Ed with the flu not 100% but he put 100% effort in on stage as usual. He still sounded as good as ever. Great show. Played my fav song off new album Unknown thought, sounded perfect. After my 10th PJ show over 12 years I finally got to witness STONE sing Mankind and it was worth the wait. Sing more often Stone....
Saw Melbourne and Sydney show. Melbourne had a longer set, bigger crowd, But Sydney's set was alot more flowing than in Melbourne, so i enjoyed Sydney's show beter.
Always great to see PJ.
Can i hold ED to $20 off the ticket to Sydney show next time :-)
As always the guys did an amazing job even with Eddie being sick I am still on a high. My adopted little sis got within arms reach of eddie and shes still in love with that moment. Ben harper was amazing and the little teaser with UNDER PRESSURE at the start of the show was cool as. Have to say that when crowd were chanting for pearl jam to come back for the second and third sets. Im just like give them time to catch there breaths they really bust it up there under those lights on stage so please guys if need to take more than a five minute break DO IT. Thanks again pearl jam for making my year its been a tough one and you guys are always there for me when i need you.
what an amazing show. i have been a fan for so many years but this was the first time i had seen them live! i lined up for six hours to get into the front row of backspacer feild, what a fool i am not to get ten club tickets!! so happy they played state of love and trust and indifference, that made the night for me.
YAY......a great set, (although I would've loved to have heard Just Breathe live, always next time tho :) There can't be a bad choice in a PJ setlist for me & I really enjoyed Ed's early appearance with Ben Harper singin Under Pessure, it was good to see Liam join Ed for Throw Your Arms around me later on as well... I love the surprises that PJ throw in :-))
I loved Liam & Eliza Jane's electric set & Ben Harper (magic slide) was great as always & what can I say except that Pearl Jam totally rocked the stadium...
Thnx to Ten Club.. we were right up the front,it was bloody hot but sooooo worth it! Security were great with the water and the crowd, around us were really good...most stuck to the rules about moshing crowd surfing etc, (a few smokers were hard to swallow) PJ feel a huge duty of care towards their fans :-))and it was probably a little hot to be over zealous, that said everyone around me sang & danced with heart & soul..
I got that Ed was dissapointed about his voice but I thought he was raw and vibrant as always & he could never disappoint me...I'll still take the $20 discount next time they tour tho lmfao! I wish PJ visited Oz every year :-)))
rock'n in the free world Lisa
I was about 15-20 rows from the front, lined up outside gates since 11.15am. My 3rd PJ show, I am a fan of about 15 years. Bloody hot day and night! I was annoyed going into the show knowing my group had been treated to Present Tense in Melbourne, but it didn't really matter. The sound was great, could actually have been a bit louder. Set list...how can anyone really comment on this band's choices? There's just so much depth. My favourites were MFC (began a bit muddy), Crazy Mary, Indifference, Light Years, Mankind (!?!!), Unthought Known (maybe their best tune for years) and so many more. Ed was brave to do Evolution given his flu bug. From where we were, the light show and backdrops were incredible, some online reviews have bagged these aspects. Stone stole the show for a bit, and Mike...my group (all girls, me the sole male)kept taking photos of his chest! Crowd were pretty good, some crowdsurfing wankers had their 2 minutes of fame. Security were bloody great with the water. What a shame PJ only visit every 3 years. Excellent show guys, thanks so much for all the music.
What a cracker of a show! Loved every minute of it, Why Go, Garden, State of Love Trust, Got Some, Porch, Evolution & KRITFW. What a legend Ed is, a real trooper. He gave it all he had. Great work hope he gets better for the rest of the shows that are remaining. No Lip Synching going on that is for sure :)
I had a list of three songs before the gig which I hoped they would play, but never thought it was possible... Opened with "Why Go" 1. then four songs in "Severed Hand" 2. and finally when I least expected it "Garden!" 3. my favourite PJ song of all time... and it sounded exactly as if I was back in Seattle in the early nineties. I'm an actual fan... as in, they could play anything on their catalogue and I'd know the words unlike alot of people there who were just waiting for the "hits". Thing I loved most about the gig was they sounded so grungy, more stripped back than previous years. I was really stoked to hear things like "Crazy Marry", "Mankind" and Whipping"... we've heard Betterman, Black and Alive a hundred times, was extremely refreshing. The new songs they played sounded flawless as well. Great show!
Melbourne was BREATH-TAKING! Sydney was HOT, and when Ed ran out into the crowd through the barriers he did stop for a high-five and a pat on the back, also saying sorry and grabbign his throat... a personal highlight, hahaha. Set was amazing in Sydney! Set in Melbourne was that little better maybe. But damn... 2 shows that will no doubt be really highly regarded by fans and on this tour. Better shows this tour than the previous 2 Aussie tours, definately! And they were awesome too! Such a consistently great band! It was my girlfriend's first PJ experience, the 2 shows, and she was blown away too. Nice work boys!
Over from England couldn't believe how hot it was but THE BOYS really rocked. Fantastic set list. Eddie's was a trooper with his flubug and was as ever amazing. A day ill never forget.
The crowd reaction was probably understandable considering how hot it was. Just about 40c right throughout the show with little to no breeze. It was uncomfortable in the stands, it must have been pretty bad down the front. I was in the lower tier of the stands, about in line with the gap between the front and back fields and the atmosphere was great. People were dancing, singing along. We often couldn't hear Eddie over the crowd.
Can't wait to download the bootleg. Being a stadium the sound wasn't great so I'd like to hear the board mix of it
I have mixed emotions about this concert as what they did was great. It was a great setlist and despite Eddy having the flu he did really well but the crowd was a little docile (Maybe due to the heat). I was on the backfield, despite that the band played tight as per usual and Ben Harper did a great job on indifference. A great concert A great band thanks :-)
Although i heard about the Melbourne show being just epic this was still a great night. Great versions of Light Years, Red Mosquito, MFC, Crazy Mary, Evolution. The band seemed really on, Mike and Stone were both on fire. Great show, nice seeing them outdoors too, even if it was up around 40 degrees.
Just got back from the show and it ROCKED. Eddie is struggling with a flu, but he did his best with help from Ben Harper and Liam Finn. Great setlist - a lot of often overlooked classics like Garden and Light Years. Finished with a huge version of Rockin' in the Free World.
Get to oz soon- iam flying like a butterfly with anticipation, its been a while and i need my pj fix-so please have safe and happy travels. Please Ed sing... Come back, in Sydney. I will be down front crying....
