awesome story. the dudes next me had a buddy down on the floor and he got his hands on a couple EV picks along with a MC and stone pick too. Lucky bastard I tell ya. But I drove from Minnesota for that show too. Where from MN are you from? You hitting up the winnipeg show?

gods balls

Today's weather was absolutely wonderful and so I decided to sit out on my deck and listen to the KC bootleg. It has been over a year and it took be almost a year to listen to the bootleg because I was afraid of it conjuring up nostalgic feelings and ruining what I had experienced. But ever since I began listening to it, i can't help but be amazed and happy. It was my first PJ show ever; having missed them when they came through the twin cities back during the self titled release tour. Although it was my first show, I don't think they could've topped themselves. The set list was better than I expected .The band's energy was infectious. The crowd was absolutely ecstatic and didn't quiet down for a second. The unexpected gifts like singing happy birthday to Smitty, having Tomas Young make an appearance, and gold medal olympian Curt Tomasevicz playing on yellow ledbetter really made the night even more special. Also, Eddie's banter with the crowd was great. Hearing Rockin' in the Free World was one of the highlights since Neil Young is one of my musical heroes. It was the longest show I have ever been too. It was worth the 8 hour drive from the Twin Cities and it gave me some good ol' quality time with my old man. I can't wait to see them at Alpine. For now though, I'll keep playing that bootleg and will be taken back to that beautiful day in May in beautiful Kansas City, Missouri.

So, it's a little late, but this was my first show (and then STL after it). After turning down the chance to see a show at the Del Mar fairgrounds (in a universe far, far, far, far away) I started an evil, dark, long-and-barely-lived period of a wasted life (not that the two events were in anyway related). So now, a year later, as I listen to every bootleg I've been able to download (of the past 20 years - and that's about 19 years) I for once can't wait until my birthday... Which just happens to fall on 9/3. And better yet, I live in Madison, WI... For once somewhere that is worth something!!! And after getting my 10c confirmation email, I'm happy :) Ed, Mike, Jeff, Stone, Matt, Dave, Jack, and everyone else who contributed to saving my life - Thank you.

best fuckin PJ show i had seen in a long time

It's been almost a year since I attended this show, and I still listen to little else but the Bootleg. I had been trying to attend a PJ show since I was 11, and it was a real milestone to be able to finally make one right before I turned 30. It was a magical and powerful experience; thank you, Pearl Jam.

Most underrated show of the tour. Great Boot!

After this stellar show, like many others I went up front to try and find myself a piece of memorabilia on the floor. In the past, I have always been unsuccessful in similar endeavors. However, as I searched this time I overheard a guy say "hey man, you want one of Mike's picks? I got three of them." He was talking to his buddy who gratefully accepted the offer. Feeling courageous...and slightly buzzed...I turned to the guy and asked "how generous are you feeling tonight?" He looked at me with an "oh shit" expression on his face (rightfully so). Detecting his hesitance I followed up with "I totally understand if you don't want to part with a pick for some stranger, but I had to ask. I'm a huge fan, drove all the way from Minnesota to catch the show." He smiled and said "I drove all the way from Alasaka." The thought "D'oh!" flashed across my synapses as I said, "Well shit, you got me trumped. Don't worry about it." But as soon as the words left my mouth he reached in his pocket and handed me one of Mike's picks. Beaming, I asked him "What's your name?" "Steven," he replied. "Well Steven from Alaska," I said, "my name is Mike and I can't tell you how much this means to me." We then shook hands and parted ways. So I want to take this opportunity to give a shout out to Steven and thank him again for his generous act. I will pay it forward brother.

e-mail me at breakerfall88@yahoo.com or (719)243-4377 wont to know how was the show from your view

thats too funny... wish i was there... thanks for aswering my questions...

Eddie said he's been their tour manager since the beginning. It was his birthday that night in KC and they stuffed a cake in his face. Then he stuck the cake in Eddie's face!

That's awesome. I went to KC and STL, my fiance and I are going to the Ireland shows and the London show, they'll be the first three she's seen and they'll get me to twelve. Congratulations.

This was my first PJ show!! Ive been trying to get to one for FOREVER and finally made it!! I laughed, I sang, I even cried. Then to top it all off, my boyfriend proposed at the end of the show! Needless to say I will NEVER forget that show! The crowd was INCREDIBLE!! Thank you Pearl Jam!!!

and who is smity?

The man your talking about his name is SMITY

anybody know who the short grey hair dude in the picture with eddie is... I saw him at starbucks before the show in Indy...

This was my fifth Pearl Jam Show and it was by far the best I have witnessed. Thanks Guys and don't let this be your last stop in KC.

The show was kick ass,the sprint center is state of the art.My wife and i were talking about what songs thay were going to play on the way up from Colorado Springs to KC.I think i was two songs off,i thought LBC,Forces of nature.Anyway i think i was louder then ED himself. The dude from Ohmoha with his little boy who is a big PJ fan you dudes are cool.Just wanted tell matt and his tec thank you for the drumb sticks you gave to my wife and i.Mike Mcready you are the sickes G player in the world from know till the end of time.I WANT YOUR JOB.

This was the first of 2 shows I was taking my son to for his 16th Birthday present. Eddie was in a great mood for this show. Between talking about Gods Balls (yes he said Gods balls) to smashing a birthday cake in his tour managers face then proceeding to throw big chunks into the crowd. The best time for me was seeing my son's face in such awe of the greatest band around. We had great seats center stage about 24 rows back. Thank you Pearl Jam and everyone who make this happen so I can spend this time with my son and bond over such great music. Keep on rockin in a Pearl Jam world.

man, this show kicked ass... eddy you rock so hard and your personality really came out and i love it... this was what ive always dreamed of, the best pearl jam concert ever!!! thanks guys, you really know how to impress!

Got lottery row 10 dead center for this show. Thanks 10C!

Of The Girl is my favorite song by the band, so they could have played Britney Spears and Milli Vanilli covers the rest of the show and I'd have left happy.

Much respect to Tomas Young and I'm glad he could have a moment of recognition in his hometown. He wasn't healthy enough to appear at Bonnaroo a couple years back, so I am glad he was able to make it out for this show.

The story of this show was the shout-outs the band gave to people they know and care about- Tomas Young, Curt Tomasevicz, Mark Smith, Willie Wilson and Matt's drum tech (whose name is escaping me). Each of their stories was unique and helped to make the show memorable for things other than the music.

are you serious?

someone else posted in the kc thread that they won front row lottery tickets for this show, and also had to sit down because of health issues. they noted they had to come in and out of the venue in a wheelchair. they mustered the energy to stand for most of the show, but had to sit at times. you gonna demand they apologize too?

get over yourself. they had a great time. let them enjoy their memories, whether they were standing or sitting. you've displayed with your post that they were more worthy of those tickets than you would be.

I have seen Pearl Jam 4 times and Kansas City was the best one yet. I took my daughter and we ended up on the floor second row.It was a rockin show!!

Wow...I can't believe I was at that show...amazing!

I have seen about a dozen PJ shows & this was by far the best - such a special night, numerous special guests, eddy throwing cake at the crowd, the energy from fans & band alike was amazing... I laughed, I cried, I bruised my legs horribly from dancing into the seats all night... 7th row seats 5&6, no drunk assholes or drama, this night was PURE JOY! They played for such a long time...

This is my #2 concert (by any band) of all time. (And yes #1 was PJ - 3rd row & Eddy sang to me & last PJ with my late husband.)

Thank you so much Pearl Jam - I wish I was 20 years younger so I could have followed your tour bus until it stopped to get to meet you. ALas, I was up at 5 and headed to work the next day on 4 hours sleep - totally worth it.

I missed my calling - to be a Pearl Jam roadie.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU
BIG LOVE - Kristi

As a newbie to the scene, this was my first ever PJ show, and you guys did not disappoint! You guys had your "A" game every song of the night and what a great fucking setlist to boot!
Saw the 5/4 show in St. Louis as well, and I've got to say the crowd in KC was MUCH more energetic and loud. Waited for the crowd to get off their asses in STL, and they just never quite got there the way KC did. Props to KC! Boo to my lethargic fellow St. Louisans!
Overall, two very killer shows! Thanks again guys!

Unbelievable! I was the lucky one that was randomly chosen for Row 1, Seats 9&10 @ the KC show 5/3!! How can I ever top that?? So phenomenal that the band does this for their fans. Only problem was I was ill....actually had to sit down on occasion which just freaked me out, but I did rally back and was able to enjoy the show anyway. I'm still in shock! - Quote

Are you effing serious. You sat down!!!! Dont buy tc anymore. you obviously werent worthy of those sacred front row tickets. I was sick too, didnt stop me from jumping up and down the ENTIRE show. Say your sorry!!

it was my 18th show. stl last night was numebr 19. KC was seriously one of the best PJ shows Ive ever seen. Lolla, bonnaroo and grand rapids in 06 were pretty stellar too.

kind of dissappointed by the 27th row seats but hey, what the fuck, it was still great.

Somebody sitting next to me actually shit his pants!!!

I was on one of the lucky fan club members to win first row tickets! It was the most amazing experience ever!! Thanks guys for a memory I will cherish forever!

Awesome show! great venue, great sound in that place... I would hope it would have great sound with a name like sprint center. The lighting was awesome as well lots of blues during the show. no songs from riot act.

Can't get this show out of my head. Took my wife to see PJ for the first time, and this was a show I will never forget. Eddie's banter was great, and the whole crowd was amazing. PJ rocked!

Best show I have ever been to. Period.

Best show I have ever been to. Period.

The band cooked and the KC crowd was totally into it. Awesome set list too and even some surprises along the way. This was everything that makes a Pearl Jam show so great. Porch was sick. Thanks Pearl Jam you truly are the best!!!!

Oh man what an amazing show! You know when you go to the record shop and find you a beauty, i mean a real fuckin gem and you wish you could have been at that show. Well i was at one of those shows. its been a long time, thanks guys i'll take that one to the grave with me.

C ya all in Cleveland

This was one of the best shows ever. The crowd was great, always into it and the band rocked. Can't wait for St. Louis. Thank you Pearl Jam (and fans).

Some good videos on youtube from the show as well.

Pearl Jam truly rocked. Their energy and crowd engagement was great. I thought the sound was a bit muddied and flat where I was sitting/standing. I sat toward the back of the floor.

Overall the show was great. Mike (I think) even played the Star Spangled Banner on his guitar at the end of the show. Awesome!

Thank you Pearl Jam.

WOW! That's all I can say. WOW! covers it.

Last night was my first Pearl Jam concert since 2003, and it was seriously the best I've EVER seen. Thank you, guys, for coming back to Kansas City. And thank you for that setlist - "Present Tense" especially was so, so awesome!
