I had a pair for this show and ended up not getting to go...I was coming from Toronto to CT for work and didn't think that I would make it to MSG in time for the show on the Friday (I left T.O. Fri morning and drove all day to CT). After seeing the setlist, I $#@! myslef! I made it to CT by 7:30 and would have made it in time for the entire show! EPIC FAIL! I got the boot the day it was available and I finally got my 'rats' in Toronto this past Monday.
Man it's January 28th 2011 it's 5 AM here in New York, and all I can think about is what happened on this Spring Night on May 21st 2010. This concert will be forever etched in my mind. What went down in the arena was simply amazing. Nothing I will ever forget. That's for damn sure.
This was my 52nd time seeing PJ since '91 and I was fortunate enough to be in the 3rd row, Mike's side, for this phenomenal show. The energy was like being back in the early 90's again and the exchange between the band and audience was truly a unique experience. There was a definite magic and connection in the air that night that will remain ingrained in my memory forever. It touches my heart every time I listen to this incredible boot.
MSG-2 show was riiiiiiiiiiiiiiidiculous. I probably say it every tour but this was definitely the best show I've ever seen and heard. Truly phenomenal. At the end of the show, I was able to throw Eddie a copy of the comic book I write and illustrate so I was even more stoked... I'm still wondering if he read it... ???
I have been going to concerts for over 35 years and have never felt such a tremendous vibe as I felt that night in May at the Garden. I have seen The Who, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, CSNY, The Rolling Stones, The Kinks, U2, Springsteen, and just about anybody you can think of, but nothing compares to the experience I had at this particular Pearl Jam show. In order to secure a good seat I ended up going by myself and I was blown away by the knowledgable, friendly, and together fan base that PJ has. People were truly there for the music and not just to get hammered as was the case at many of concerts I have attended.
It is clear that the band never just goes through the motions. The set list was incredible and to hear them do The Real Me by my other favorite band was pure heaven! It's been 7 months since that night, and the good feelings still linger.
Happy New Year!
I have been to no less than 25 PJ shows...and this MSG show was beyond words!! Shit, it's December 20th '10 and i'm still marveling over it... seems soooo long ago, can't wait till the boys rev-it-up again.
best show EVER. Never felt ANYTHING like i felt being in THAT crowd THAT night. Seen PJ TONS of times, but NOTHING compares to this show. If you weren't there, download the set....you'll see what i mean!
After all this time, I still can't get over what an amazing show this was. After hundreds of concerts, nothing compares to this night at the Garden. Unreal.
This show was amazing. First time I've ever seen Pearl Jam. For years I've gone to concerts. Seen: STP, Alice in Chains, Velvet Revolver, Creed, Kiss, Jane's Addiction, Aerosmith, Nine Inch Nails, The Black Crowes, Bon Jovi, Dave Matthews....but never Pearl Jam, the one band that i've loved since the 9th grade. You see I'm only about to be 22 and wasn't into them till then. LOVED THIS FUCKING SHOW...my friend who came with me isn't as into Pearl Jam as I am, he only knows a couple of songs, but even he thought it was the sickest concert he's been too. GREAT JOB, I'll never forget this concert the rest of my life... Cannot wait for the next time they come around the New York, New Jersey, Long Island, Connecticut area.
I was listening to the show last night on my way to work....I haven't felt the hair on my head stand up like that in a while...but listening to the crowd sing Betterman sure did it.
I was walking today, listening to PJ on my iPod and then recalled this show and got goosebumps all over again. I'm still in an altered mind after this just incomprehensibly insane psychotic nuclear show. jjjjusst now I got fucking chills thinking about it. Seriously, this was the show of the decade.
Anyone who was at this show should not only thank PJ for bringing their A+++ game, but thank those in attendance, because the crowd brought their A++++++++ game as they always do at MSG. I hope PJ plays shows until they're 80 yrs old.
Best show I've ever seen. This was my 17th PJ show and I'm still blown away by it. I won the TC lottery and got front row right between Ed and Mike. I can't even put into words how amazing it was to be that close.
Highlights for me:
Breath
Nothingman
"Reworked" Lukin
Rats
Push Me Pull Me
Black, Red & Yellow
Hunger Strike
Black
Took my 16 yo nephew and it was his 1st but not last PJ. He received an electric guitar for the holidays and that's all he plays is PJ. My sister drove us door to door what a hell of a ride, an accident in the L tunnel, but was worth it! A 2 hour drive took 4 1/2!! Oh the anticipation of the show....no worries! We made it just in time to see Band Of Horses too!!!!!!
XOXO
Lisa #19 in Elsinboro, NJ
The place was bouncing, everyone was into the show standing, fist pumping, singing along with Eddie. Speaking of Eddie, Come Back, Come Back to MSG soon
lucky americans
yo don't know how lucky you have for seing the band playing that often
come back to chile guys...we are waiting for you
I love you soooooooooooooooo much!
This show was absolutely insane!!! Best ever! I have been waiting since Lollapolloza to hear Hunger Strike, thought they would do it when both bands were there together, no such luck. Anyway it was worth the wait. PJ is the best live band ever by far!! Nobody can even touch them!! Thanks PJ, thanks 10C-ers!! Still feeling the rush of the show!!
This was the best show I've ever been to, had on a bootleg, or could imagine.
The MSG crowd was hot and into every song. The band raged all night and Eddie was ON POINT!
It's almost a week later and I'm still on that post show high - wishing that they had more US dates that I could get to.
They played the hits that they had to play (i guess) - but they destroyed me with:
hail hail
got some
I'm open
present tense (great job with the sing along MSG)
not for you / modern girl
LUKIN - this version officially made it THE SHOW TO BE AT
Sweet Lew - my head exploded. GREAT JOB JEFF
Hunger Strike with band of horses - ARE YOU KIDDING ME???
Kick out the Jams - MC5 cover - WOW
and Mike's Star Spangled Banner at the end of Yellow was top notch.
Pearl Jam is where it is at. Better than any other live act out there (sorry U2 - sorry Phish - sorry Bruce).
This was by far the best Pearl Jam performance of my life! I'm still buzzing from it. My husband and I came from Denver because we could not stand not being part of this tour. We had twins last year and were not up for a concert after Backspacer was released and were seriously bummed when our best friends went to the Vancouver show in September. Night 2 at MSG made up for that and even my deep seeded regret for not seeing the show at Red Rocks in the early 90's. Our seats were in the rafters, behind the stage and did not minimize this show one bit and would argue that they were better than the floor on night 1 (and swear Ed made eye contact with me all the way at the top).
Thanks to the guys in section 418 row B, you guys totally made our experience. And to the bro-mance we witnessed on night 1 in section C on the floor, I love to see how PJ impacts peoples lives (and we didn't think you were gay at all!).
Thank you for slow Lukin, Amongst the Waves and the religious experience of Evolution. And contrary to other posts, would not have minded Even Flow, that is the song that bonded me to Pearl Jam for life.
One final plea, please play Red Rocks! You have no idea how you would rock that place.
Great concert. Hunger strike was amazing... Question though...I got my tickets through the ticketmaster pre-sale for ten club members and when I bought them it gave me my seat locations in an email right away (sec 305, row G). Then when I picked up my tickets they changed to section 111 right next to the stage. Not complaining about the upgrade at all bc the seats were great, but did this happen to anyone else?
WOW what an amazing experience!! I have to give a huge THANK YOU TO RONNY FROM SWITZERLAND for helping me and my friend D out with tickets after we got shut out druing the 10c presale!!!! So many things just fell into place for us that night all adding up to result in probably the best concert experience I've ever had! I posted a plea for help on the 10c forum and Ronny answered! We drove down from Niagara Falls the day of the show and we were stuck in traffic for almost 2 hours trying to get into Manhattan from Jersey, worried sick we'd miss the show. We ended up meeting Ronny, a guy I've never met, only minutes before the show. He could have cashed in and left at anytime because there were people looking for tickets everywhere outside the Garden but he waitied for us anyways and we will be forever grateful! He is a first class 10clubber, flew over for 6 PJ shows and had an extra pair for this show!!! Lucky us, because it was the sickest setlist I`ve seen them play, going all the way back my first PJ show in `92. MSG was amazing!! Truly a special night. One minute we`re stuck in traffic in Jersey, 30 minutes later we`re in NYC for the first time, with great 10c Floor seats at MSG! Unreal!!!!!!
This was my 17th show and I was still blown away. I had never heard Hunger Strike live before so that was great. The only thing that made me mad was when Ed was talking about Howard Zinn and some drunk behind me was screaming for him to just shut up and play. It still amazes me sometimes just how ignorant some people can be.
Everyone has said it already, but MSG2 was the type of concert that made you glad to be alive (no pun intended)! From the minute the whole place started to belt out Corduroy with Eddie & Co. in the opener to the last note of the star bangled banner I was in complete awe and I am just glad I got to be apart of it with you all. We really got to be apart of something special, and I can't stop reliving many of the moments in my mind so can't I absolutely can't wait for the bootleg.
In the 14 years since I first saw them in the Meadows I never thought I would see a show that rivaled the first time. Boy was i wrong - if this show didn't surpass it, it was at least its equal. I thought Hartford last weekend was great but this was a whole different level - a veritable dream setlist! It didn't hurt that I won the lottery when my section 408 seats became stage-side VIP seats just hours before the show (thank you Phil!). Push me pull me into Rats? Given to fly into Spin the Black into RVM?!? Ben joining Eddie for an indescribable Hunger Strike? Have I died and gone straight to heaven?!? An unforgettable night.
If anyone lost a memory card for their camera that was sitting on the floor for MSG 2, I have found it. You can contact me at Kellymac14@aol.com if it's yours.
I saw 3 shows in four days (Newark, MSG 1 & 2).... one better then the next, culminating with Friday's zen like experience of Hunger Strike at MSG... PJ ROCKS, can't wait to see whats in store for Venice in July!!
Thank you Pearl Jam! This was an amazing show. Very fast from the beginning. And I won the lottery!!!! Seeing Pearl Jam from the Stone side in the second row was outstanding.
This was the first concert I have never been to at MSG..... A LOT different that Prudential Center / Continental .... I was telling my friend today that the crowd on the floor (the majority ... I am sure there were people who contradict my statement) at prudential center were not even singing or showing any type of emotion. Than you have MSG going nuts. Its like a different world. I am in shock ha ha. No wonder why MSG shows are always twice as long (this is true for most bands except bruce/jovi).
At my 23rd show on my birthday in my home state, i was fortunate enough to see my fave band of all time...again. unfortunately not in the 10c seats, but sec. 327 (yes i know it sucks, but what occured that evening did not!).34 songs on my 34th bday, awesome! lukin (slow), black (missed it the last 10 shows), hungerstrike (was at holmdel until gf passed out and missed song), bry (need i say more), spin the black circle (a personal fave for awhile), push/pull (better live than you'd imagine), and no evenflow!!! Happy f'n birthday to me!! Thank you guys...fairly certain i won't forget my 34th bday anytime soon!! partly cuz i wasn't hammered, but mostly cuz pj rocks!! peace!!
To McCreadysGod, yeah I don't think Ed reads posts on here either, I'm sure he's too tired. I believe he played BRY after reading the letter I gave him in Newark requesting it ;)
I remember that Randalls Island show, that was the first time i saw PJ and it was the closest feeling to a religious experience. If u still have the ticket to that show I got it tattooed to my right arm, will never ever forget it
Black Red and Yellow?? Hunger Strike????? damn i shoulda got tickets for the second show, i went to MSG1 which was an amazing show. Now i cant wait for the bootlegs to come out!!!!!!
unlike many of you this was only my second time seein them. i was always a fan but never made a show till 08 at the garden.it was a great show and ive been really hooked ever since! i couldnt wait till their next tour. friday nite was amazing from start to finish i wish the nite wouldnt end.the set was awesome and the garden was electric!waiting for my train in penn i was physically exhausted!thanks pj for a nite that i will never forget! you guys kicked ass!!!see ya next time at the garden.
p.s. i saw a couple in section next to me they had to be in their 70s rockn out!

Been to over a hundred concerts in my life this was by far the best one ever. Never felt energy in the garden like that ever it was unreal
seen them over 25 times. by far and away the best show I've ever attended, will remember that night for the rest of my life.

Listening to this concert today and i'm getting the same dumb ear-to-ear shit eating grin i had when i was there. What a night....
