Pearl Jam kicked ass that night! The energy was out of this world! This concert was AMAZING! The setlist was perfect! There is NOT ONE bad thing that I could say about that concert! I'm so thankful I was able to be there! That will most def. not be my last PJ show!!!! loved every second of it! :)
I went to this.. was on the lawn and yes I agree that it was disappointing to see the lawn half empty and yes I also agree that Eddie should sing more and talk politics less..however.. it's his right and he can do what he wants.. the lack of attendance had more to do with it being outdoors in early May (I went to D.C. show in June 2008 at verizon..crowd was amazing),,this area has a huge Pearl Jam following... Just got the boot and it is a very underated show..
i think that what makes PJ, and particularly Eddie,a diferent and better band is the compromise they show with politics and its implicances. Sorry for my english, im from Argentina :)
In the e-mail I got last Monday (5/24) about the philly box set, they said that the rest of the tour would be available "in a week or two". So hopefully this show will be up some time this week! I can't wait to hear the show again :)
What are the chances anyone's got an extra poster from the Bristow show, or one they're willing to part with? Stuck in traffic and missed the sale, but managed to score front row center tickets (thanks 10C)...I'd like to put the stub in a frame with the show poster...
PM me if you're game and we can work something out (old fan club vinyl, scrubbing toilets or just straight cash son).
Almost a week later and I'm still reeling from the show. It really makes me wish I had gone to a couple more. Maybe they'll hit up the west coast in the fall :)
They really are just so incredible live...every time I see them I'm amazed.
Just got finished listening to these two buffoons on a Cleveland radio station talking about their experience at the pj show. One of the guys was in the back and said he was bored because they did not have any screens to project themselves up on like the U2 zooropa tour or something. The best part of the concert for him was when he got to go to the livenation suite and get free beer. Some people just don't get it. PJ always rocks no matter where you are or where they are. They do not need screens to project their image on. They are incredible live! I agree 100%.
We're on Day 5 since the concert. Anyone know when the digital download and/or CD will be available for purchase? The links are here on the setlist page, but they always result in an invalid request.
so this was my 15th Pearl Jam show and it will forever hold a special place in my heart. when i went to pick up my 10 club tickets i found out that i won the lottery!! i was in Orchestra 2, Row A, seat 23!!! front freakin row! talk about incredible! THEN to sweeten the deal i got an autographed itinerary and guitar pic personally given to me by Mike. ahhhh!!! i was on cloud 9 all night. such an amazing time. thank you so much Pearl Jam for another terrific show. you never disappoint! :)
Great set list! Love the lottery. I've been a member for 10 years and have seen them live since 96' and have never had seats that great. Row J! Center! Loved it!
yea i could tell he regreted saying that. funny because in the old days pj would get tons of letters from kids saying how their music prevented them from killing themselves.
i feel the bank thing is hopless so why rant about it. they'll regulate things and whoever comes in next will deregulate things all over again. just my opinion. there's better things to rant about. and i feel there's no justifcation to tell people to kill themselves.
all of you lucky people should be happy that all of you fans get to see the worlds greatest band in the world every summer. As far as us west coast folks like me from colorado,1996 was the last time thay came,NM,AZ,WY,MTCO,are all due
No, Eddie was right they should just do the world a favor and kill themselves. He kind of took it back at the end saying they shouldn't kill themselves and just try to make the right decisions to fix our country's problems. Honestly though, these people will never do anything but work to help themselves and the rich assholes they work for. So, really killing themselves would be much better. Or a public flogging for them at a PJ show would be fun too. :)
I totally agree blondieblue227, relax everyone. They're just opinions, and some are not going to agree with yours. I like the Ledbetter ending, but some don't. I really don't think PJ cares what we think about the ending, they obviously like the song a whole lot, and are gonna keep ending with it. I remember back in the day when "Jesus Christ Pose" started every Soundgarden show. Some got tired of it, some thought it was the way it should always be...but I don't think "do us a favor and kill yourselves" is necessary. It's just music...really, really awesome music. Come back to Edmonton please! I've got kids now, and can't travel to see your shows anymore boys. Please come back!
Awesome show. I've seen about 10 and definetly top shelf stuff. They were fresh off a few days break and it showed. Very high energy and steller set list. Wanted to hear State of Love and Trust but you can't win them all.
Ya know all this cryin' about shows reminds me of a rant Ed went on back in the day...from one of the OLD bootlegs...when it was actually a real bootleg and no comparison to the high-quality sound of full shows they offer us now; anyway I'm rambling a bit but he started off with "HEY LISTEN @$$HOLE! THROW A F#%$IN QUARTER AGAIN, OR FU&t%N CHANGE, AND I'M OUTTA HERE! WE'RE ALL OUTTA HERE...."
"If anyone sees someone throw change you have my persmission to but the holy f%^$in $h1t outofem!!!....AHHH that felt good!"
I wish Ed would say this again at the beginning of every show; except the subject would be directed toward WHINERS. And then when someone heard someone next to them in the crowd CRY about the set or the encore...Ed would say...."BEAT THE HOLY f^%&IN $H!T OUT OF HIM!!!!" And then that whiner would get carried of by security or paramedics and the show would go on for all of the true fans who love every minute of every show we may be fortunate enought to see.
Stop crying all of you WHINERS on the east coast who are LUCKY enough to even get to see them at all. "NOT FOR YOU"...is dedicated to you. I think Ed wrote that song about you people...
Man what a great show and the venue must have had input about the long waits for Ten Club tickets because I got there at 6pm and walked right up and didn't have to wait. The crowd had a lot of energy and the band fed off of it pretty well. My friends and I had a great time!
Awesome show...8th row seats...Ten Club comes through again...blistering set....band really looked rested and like they were having fun...can't wait for MSG next week...
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE I BEG YOU...change up the ending...the only band i know where the end song actually causes a buzzkill. call your boys from my morning jacket they could teach you guys a thing or two about ending a show.
MY first show was at Bogarts cincinatti OH and then Columbus and Cleveland OHIO they play every show like its their last with energy that gods have the most recent Columbus show was my 27th show since 1992 U are a fucking ROOKIE your lucky you got to even see them be GRATFUL ROOKIE and shut the FUCK up and just listen to the art of organic music at its best Fucking rookie .peace and i hope you meditate on this and see that its the way they like to pace themselves, through the tour . fucking rookie
AMEN! I agree with you 100%. PJ is by far my favorite band of all-time. This is my only complaint about them, STOP ENDING SHOWS WITH LEDBETTER!!
In '03 they played 3 nights at the Tweeter Center in Mansfield, MA, 93 different songs. They didn't repeat a song until the last song of the 3rd night, LEDBETTER!!! UGH ;).
With that being said, tomorrow night in Hartford is my first show of this tour, I can't wait!!! Then Monday here in Boston, and Th/Fri @ MSG!!!!
All this negativity on this website is very f***ing sad and dissapointing. Is this what some PJ fans are really like ? I consider myself a huge dedicated fan who has been to close to 30 shows and I can't believe all the complaining and bickering I'm reading about song choices, setlists and what Eddie talks about on stage. Shut the f*** up ! Please ! I'm not even going to any shows on this tour because I can't afford it right now and it kills me. Before I had a family I would travel and follow the band for 3 to 4 shows at a time. I'm gonna wait til next year and hope they come my way but until then all I have is this website and the bootlegs. Just appreciate that you are there and you are witnessing one of the greatest bands ever. Who knows how much longer they will be doing this ? I've said this before but I'll say it again, if some fans have so much to complain about this great band, just quit the fan club and stay off this site. You are not welcome here. Leave the rockin' to the true fans.
PJ. Love you. Hope to see you again soon..........
This band plays their hearts out and continues to give their fans the best experience they can every night. They're human, and therefore not perfect, and can't worry about making everyone happy every minute of the day. They do their best and we should give them our best by being the best fans possible.
Got Guts- I am SO glad I'm not alone in this opinion.
I completely agree w/all u said and I've been reading the same things..."fans" complaining about various things at the shows...other fans, but setlists, mostly...I went on a little tangent myself and said consider urselves lucky that you're getting to see them...I live in central CO and dont get to see them often either. Couldn't make it to the west coast last fall and unless they extend this fall to the west after Europe will have to wait as patiently as possible for the next chance. Haven't seen them since Double-dose at the Gorge in '06; but when I think about those last shows I saw I get PJ-live chills and remind myself how lucky i was to see them there. I'm just waiting to look at the News section one day this summer and see "Mountain West/West Coast tour dates announced"(FINGERS CROSSED!!!) how people have the NERVE to B1t#* is unbelievable!!!! SO KEEP ROCKIN LEDBETTER TILL THE FINAL NOTE!!!!!!!!!
I agree with you..I don't understand why people complain about the shows so much...i'm still smiling from last night's show :) I'm sorry you're unable to see any shows this tour, but if it makes you feel any better, eddie said that the band is closer than they've ever been and they really enjoy being together..he said it would be weird if they all just hopped on a plane together, leaving their families, just so they could hang out, but the fans give them a reason to do this...so as long as we're still there to support them, they'll keep playing :) Hopefully, we have many more years to watch them rock out and you'll get to see them soon!
Thank you for that post, I really wanted to go off on CraigFizz for his comments but held it together. We all know what to expect when we see PJ and I love every second of it. Must be a hard core right wing a**hole who wasn't really into PJ from the start.
Oh, and re: the setlist and music, this was an absolutely balls-out performance and setlist. I had such an awesome time, and can't wait to head up to NYC next week to see what craziness they'll unleash at MSG (will be my 4th and 5th Garden PJ shows) :-)
Personally, I was actually a bit disappointed that the show didn't feature MORE political banter. It's always one of the things I look forward to most about seing PJ, Ed is almost certain to say something hilarious and/or apt about politics. I had thought if they got really political anywhere, DC would be the place. What he did say, however, was absolutely spot on in my opinion. They really know their politics, and have never been shy about their political views. In fact, if you enjoyed Riot Act or the Avacado album AT ALL, you have the massive cluster that was the Bush Administration to thank.
AGAIN,
can someone tell me please the name of the company that ed spoke of last night? i cant rememeber! or direct me to a review of his rambles last night? "do us a favor and kill yourselves" WHO was the company?
thanks!
As others have answered, it was professional lobbyists for large financial institutions (Goldman Sachs being the one that he mentioned specfically), who are currently lobbying against the financial regulatory reform legislation that Congress is currently debating.
Third time is a charm! Great show, great energy, great crowd. Ed keep up the political banter. To hell with the haters. They know what you bring to the table and what your stance is politically. If they can't enjoy the music, they can stay home.
Good. Go. Continue weeding out the undesirables...
Evolution, knucklehead.
Why were you ever on this site in the first place?
I hate even getting negative about the negativity? Honesty is to be respected, but tainted tones and backlash shouldn't be a part of the good that this band and this site eminate.
Again, good riddance.
Happy trails.
Don't let Pilate's dog bite you on the ass on the way out...
On further review, that may be good for you.
Oh yeah, if you are "right," then R. Limbuagh is left?
(F&*%? I hated the mere typing of that negative name. In other words, the words of Jeff Lynne from ELO: "Don't bring me [us] down!")
I will never pay to see them again. setlist awesome, but the playing seems equal to an Eagles reunion. I hope Eddie reads this. Stop the Political banter on stage. I pay $100 to hear music not political propaganda. Dedicating a song to a dictator loving, America hating Sean Penn was just way too far. Good Luck with the rest of your career boys, I won't be there to see it anymore. Go ahead, start hating, but you know I'm right.
you fucking scumbag...pearl jam is a connection between 6 peoples souls and our own..."i dont have a stage to speak on for him to hEar me and i dont wanna hear him"...you said it al right there u fucking asshole...u dont have a stage to speak on...but eddie does...and if u did, u would use it...i dont have a stage to speak on either...does it bother me...hell fucking no...cause i dont want one...ten is by far NOT their best album...if u can use enough braincells that u destroyed mister generation x to recall the 9 or 10 albums they put out after, u would know that no code, riot act, binaural, yeild, backspacer, lost dogs, versus and vitology are some of their best work...not to mention eddies solo work, which is a masterpiece....go back in your mind to the 90s and fucking stay there, locked up, in ur one room apt. u fucking ASSHOLE...EDDIE IS LIKE A GUIDING LIGHT IN MY LIFE...I DONT, AND DONT HAVE TO AGREE WITH EVERYTHING HE SAYS POLITICALLY. BUT DOES THAT MANS MUSIC AND LYRICS TOUCH MY SOUL LIKE NOTHING ELSE...IF U OR I AND EVERYONE ELSE IN THE FUCKING WORLD HAD A STAGE TO SPEAK ON...THEY PROBABLY WOULD...AS FOR SETLIST...AGAIN...U FUCKING SCUMBAG,..U SAW A KICK ASS SHOW...U CAUGHT ALL THOSE YESTERDAYS...THAT IS SO FUCKING HARD TO CATCH...IF I REMEBER CORRECTLY I BELIEVE THE BLOCK OF SONGS THAT CAUGHT MY EYE WAS DOWN, GIVEN TO FLY, INSIGNIFICANCE, ALLTHOSE YESTERDAYS, FAITHFULL,JUST BRETHE...THE ONLY WAY THAT COULD BE TOPPED IS WITH OFF HE GOESAT THE END OF ALL THOSE SONGS, AND I KNOW THERE WERE MROE THAT I CANT REMEMBER RITE NOW...BUT I AM FUCKING RELIEVED THAT THEY DIDNT WASTE THAT SONG ON AN ASSHOLE LIKE YOU...ENOJY NOT SEEING PJ...ILL ENJOY SEEING PJ, AND ENJOY THE FACT THAT A FUCKING SCMUCK LIKE U ISNT THERE......PEACE.....OUT.....HOMIEEEEE
Hey CraigFrizz, don't worry PJ doesn't care about your opinion and I think they would prefer not to have you as a fan calling their show no better than an Eagles reunion. I don't think you were ever a true fan anyways because they get better and better each year. Sorry you don't get to hear the whole TEN album at their shows anymore but the 90's are over so get over it poser.
Touched a nerve with that Sean Penn comment - I mean by now you kinda have to expect this at a show. (BTW - I'm not a sean penn fan, but how can a person hate america that just wants to change it for the better? (in their view) It sounds like you can't handle views different than your own). Anyway, I've seen them about 10 times and this was probably the least political he's been. It's kept pretty short, and not like it dominates the show. It's about the music, but thats just me.
Now about the higher ticket prices, I expected more of a stage setup. Maybe the increase just goes to the other parties involved?
About the show - thought it was great, good mix in the setlist. I was worried at the start because eddie looked a little hammered, but he pulled it all together.

Anyone have a clue as to when this show will be available for downloading?
its up
In the e-mail I got last Monday (5/24) about the philly box set, they said that the rest of the tour would be available "in a week or two".
Cheers
Almost a week later and I'm still reeling from the show. It really makes me wish I had gone to a couple more. Maybe they'll hit up the west coast in the fall :)

i heard two weeks for boots to release.
We're on Day 5 since the concert. Anyone know when the digital download and/or CD will be available for purchase? The links are here on the setlist page, but they always result in an invalid request.
is it wrong that I'm checking the link every 60 minutes? NEED to hear Down and Sonic Reducer again...
woah this setlist kicks Hartford's butt!!! Hope to see a return to something like this tonight in Boston!
so this was my 15th Pearl Jam show and it will forever hold a special place in my heart. when i went to pick up my 10 club tickets i found out that i won the lottery!! i was in Orchestra 2, Row A, seat 23!!! front freakin row! talk about incredible!
Row J! Center! Loved it!

that was not cool. i don't care who you're talking about......
But anyway...i had a great time. thanks pearl jam!

I'm with you on all the whiners. Find something else to do with your time. Quit trying to bring me down. I LOVE me some PJ.
Awesome show. I've seen about 10 and definetly top shelf stuff. They were fresh off a few days break and it showed. Very high energy and steller set list. Wanted to hear State of Love and Trust but you can't win them all.

Part of seeing PJ is the Political Banter. If you do not like it stay the hell away. True PJ fans love it. Just buy the CD monkey boy.
Keep rocking PJ great show!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
