Lyrics:
I'm questioning my education
Is my education who I am now?
While you're deciding, I've been finding
Looking around in the here and now.
If I've been taught from the beginning
Would my fears now by winning?
I'm questioning my own equation
Is my own equation relevant somehow?
The flags are waving, the news is breaking
See the man who can't pick out his own tie
If I've been taught from the beginning
Would my fears now be winning?
A wild world, figuring out the answers
I'll be in my own dance and I, I, yeah, I, I....
I'm questioning my education
Rewind and what does it show?
Could be, the truth it becomes you
I'm a seed, wondering why it grows

Good one
I like the topic of this song. I think a lot about education and the school system. I fought myself through German high school finally ending up in grad school. But did I actually learn something? It's all about grades and other people tell you what to learn and sometimes I have the feeling that I would be completely helpless in certain situations. I lack basic things for survival. I just learned to get through exams. I just learned stuff that others considered essential for my future.
Maybe not especially my problem but a lot of people get through university and end up not being able to think for themselves. I much more honor people who educated themselves and learned what they wanted to learn and what they considered essential.
i agree 100% with the above post and i am public school teacher! we have it all backwards. things we spend little or no time teaching are important life skills. things we spend a ton of time teaching have very little value after you pass that quiz or test. you will probably never need in the "real world". i TRY to do things differntly in my class. we can not assume kids are going to get the important "life lessons" at home, so i feel we should be teaching them.
~ and i love you baby ~ <3
I agrea with BAS comment. I graduated in 2000. Now adays you dont get taught stuff that is most important in the "real world" You only get taught facts and numbers. Its a shame but I also love how Eddie gets to topics in his songs and writes about his views and they are soo right. He is just amazing. Eddie and Dave Matthews are both amazing song writters.
