I adore this song. Great melody and fabulous lyrics.
It has a kind of REM feel to it circa "Life's Rich Pageant", the jangly guitars make it upbeat and poppy, yet the lyrics and Ed's voice take it to a whole different level. Yet another example of Pearl Jam's great diversity

this song is used during the credits of an amazing documentary... "howard zinn - you can't be nuetral on a moving train". most pearl jam fans know how much eddie respected howard zinns veiws. recently eddie took the time to post about zinn's passing. i feel, if you are into pearl jam you should check out any or all of zinns work, from books, to plays to documentaries, i think you will enjoy it and will learn something from it. he was an amazing man and he will be missed. at least we have his body of work to look back on. if you are not a big reader, like me, check out his audio books..."a peoples nation" is read by the actor matt damon and its easy to listen to.
