Some really good friends and I saw this show. Two things I remember with distinct clarity:
1. The show was epic
2. The mad RUSH to the stage once the lights went off
I remember, we had upper balcony seats that prevented us from being able to stand in the "reserved" lower level. The "reserved" lower level was 1/2 full at best during Spacehog. The upper balcony in Tingley was merely a raised level by only 8ft tops that formed a horseshoe around the stage. Once Spacehog ended, most of the folks near and around us were saying "Once PJ comes out we are jumping". Needless to say, Mr. Security gaurd also heard these whispers and was growing increasingly reluctant to try and stop a mass of 50+ people from jumping, landing, and rushing the stage. He would plead with the crowd but we all would laugh and tell him...get out of the way "IT'S COMIN'"!
Lights went out and it was as if someone threw $10million dollars on the stage. We jumped, landed, and ran as fast we could as close as we could then ---- Brain of J!!!!!!
We had a hard time collecting our breaths in the first 10 minutes as I recall. What a show, thanks Ott, Billy, Justin, DJ, Steve, Niki and the KOA!!!
I just remember ed beating a hole in the stage with his mic stand and exiting stage left it was fn great just to come back out and see that big ass sign yellow ledbetter it was huge!!! overall a+ as usual. Met this 15 year old kid in our hotel b4 the show we had an extra ticket his dad said he could go, not ever hearing a pj song. or even been to a live show b4. we took him never saw him again until the next morning he was blown away. so were ever you r kid hope u learned what a live performance is supposed to be like and that you have become a pj lifer ur welcome my brother. peace
The day was kick ass,got to the coliseum about 5:00 int he morning stood in line all day in the hot sun. Everybody who showed up to the show early had to pay the parking fee by entering again,i was still the first to get through the gate, than Pete and Bailey, Ed and the bands bodygaurds, very cool gentelman hung out with all of us cool Pearl Jam fans. The doors open, Spacehog played a good show but when the big dogs hit the stage it was like we were like packed whatever thay are called, the boys did what thay do best rock our asses. After alive when Ed dedictaed the song to the first 10 rows he had asked Peat or Bailey to get my x friend out of the baracade and gave the x a tambourin, well i ended up with it. The big 30 foot poster for Yellow led was kick ass.Went on to see i think 5 more showes seen like 7 or 8 that year. Thanks Frank lopez from Colorado Springs
