I remember when they opened with "Corduroy" I jumped and got stuck. That place was packed. Great energy. Four fierce songs to open. Ed did get hit, but I think it was a fountain soda. He got nailed on the front of his shirt and on his guitar. He said thanks and kept playing. I remember the lightning on day one and Mike D of the Beasties saying, "This is not a joke. Get off the field." There were some stoned people there like, What?

Energy very high. They played in the heat of the day and the set list reflected this well. I think remember Eddie getting hit with water bottle, does anyone else remember this....

Agree the set was short, but all good. They played hard and fast with a ton of energy. The crowd was going balistic! Cutting the set short for the Red Hot Chili Peppers was a show of class. I caught the Peppers the night before at the 9:30 Club which was insane. John Fruscante just re-joined the band, they played all old music off Freaky Stylie, Mother's Milk, etc... PJ rules!

Pearl Jam headlined the '98 Tibetan Freedom Concert on Day 2. Day 1 was cut short because of bad weather... in fact some dude was struck by lightning. So they tried to jam more bands into the second day. That's why PJ's set was so sort. They were set to headline and I guess there was nowhere to fit in the Chili Peppers, so about 2 minutes after PJ left the stage, the Chili Peppers came out and played 3 songs on PJ's equipment. It was pretty cool for the guys to cut their set short to let the Chilis get in there for a few songs.
