Super-fans, that are many years younger, get mad at me for being at this show - they think everyone was throwing shoes. It was great show," I'll say. They'll reply, dead serious, "Well, as long as you weren't one of the people throwing shoes." Haaha. PC, touring, Super-fans are dumb.

Great, great show - long, long before the Coachella days when everyone knew of this place. "Eff Me in the Brain" improv was too good. The band was a little more loose then and not so, as Townshend says of EV, "pro" or something like that anyway. San Diego in '95 was great, too - cool to have your name on your PJ Cockroach ticket (still have it).

Ahh memories.. I lived on property in the Groundsman housing.. what a crazy show.. was TOTALLY freezing and inssane.. the thing about the gang is true.. those people fucked up alot of concerts all over So Cal, including this one, but that's ok cause PJ was above it all. And yes Ed took a shoe to his head..I will NEVER forget that sound!!BUT.. He took that shoe so well.. and Yes I was totally waiting to see him and Jeff kick everyone with bare-feet's asses.. I got in trouble the next day at work, ( cause there's video cameras on all the field stands and the breezeways to the barns that cover virtually ALLLLLLL angles of ALLLLL the fields..So.. I was on tape beating the shit out of people with MY shoes for throwing THEIR shoes.. lol. what a crazy night that was!! Was the longest stumble home ever.. even though I simply stumbled/tripped/slipped in the crazy "desert mud"/and fell across only three fields, back past two barns to where I lived.!! My favorite memory.. was Ed asking for shorts and a ball cap, commenting that he already had a shirt and some shoes.. and some fucker threw up a pair of PANTS on stage.. to this day I have yet to see this ever again!! Bras, underwear, t-shirts but only once and only at a monumental PJ show have I EVER seen anyone throw a pair pf pants on stage!! LMAO

Yep! They did play Yellow Ledbetter, but the gates were closed and it was their warm up song! It was the first time I heard the song and I remember how damn melodic and visceral it was! Forever engrained in my memories. Also my first PJ concert, shoes sucked but PJ endured an absolutely kicked ass! Wish I could meet them some day!

That was my first show.15 years old and in some huge mosh pits! Nothing better. Show was awesome except for the aholes throwing all their shoes on stage. The best part for me was It brought my spirits up because my mom was dying from cancer at the time and I needed something positive. Thanks pearl jam! Always number 1!

Classic show! My 2nd PJ show and it stood in stark contrast to the first show, which was a Halloween show at 'let's all get along' Berkeley. This was 'let's all be fuckin dicks and throw shit at the band' Indo.

Still rocked! The Christmas record that year had Fuck Me In The Brain as a b side from this show and I loved listening to it. Wish I could buy the boot from this one!

Line I remember: Eddie said something like "People are having babies and shit".

Band walked off after the shoe tossing. If my memory serves me correctly, I thought that Eddie said something about needing a pair of shoes before that whole tossing incident erupted.

Band came back armed with "shoe shields" to finish the show.

It was cold and frosty on the field.

Memorable and notorious.

Some inside dope on this show. There was a notorious gang in Indio who would come to ANY rock shows and be dicks and mosh around with glass on their boots and just come to punch people and stuff. They bragged about doing this crap. Eddie noticed this craziness going on and told them to chill, and the assholes who started throwing things were the gang members from the mosh pit, and it spiraled into everyone getting into it as a goof.

All in all though, AMAZING show, and it made for one of the classic moments in PEarl Jam History, I'm glad I was there to witness it. My first rock show!

I worked my way up close to the stage so some of the shoes without enough zip on them came close to hitting me. There was humor coming from Vedder until he took one on the face. That's when he took a break (almost stopped the show from what I heard) and came back with the line:

My first PJ concert and by far the best. Oh, and by far the muddiest show I've been to seeing how all the others have been indoors. The mud really sucked. Thanks for the memories. Come to SLC more than every 9 year please.

"I got shoes, I got a shirt... I need a cap and some shorts. Somebody throw up a gun so I can shoot you all, fuckers. Aw, I meant that with love."

Cool to hear the entire show on PJ radio, WOOHOO!!

Best Eddie Vedder line ever:

"Jeff and I are going to be waiting at the exit and will beat the shit out of any barefoot mother fucker out there!"

Also, I thought that I remembered that they played Yellow Ledbetter at this show.

Yes some people were tossing shoes and Eddie was a bit pissed. It was freezing cold after the concert as well as I waited to find my ride with my girlfriend at the time.

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't this the show where fans started tossing their shoes on stage?
