My 1st Show:
I remember the masses of people climbing the walls, fences, lampposts, & palm trees trying to catch a glimpse of the hottest band in America. The show was way over sold and thousands more were outside the gates & in the streets. Downtown Miami was on fire. There was an electricity in the air for sure. Felt like a riot would break out at any moment. Then the music began...
My 1st song just happen to be my favorite then and it is still my favorite now. Release. Epic and mind numbing. Gave me chills and I could feel it in my soul. The band was tight and ripping through the set. It was everything that I could have imagined and more. All songs were highlights. There were no downers at all. Great jams & surprises...we don't need no education!!! The rain started falling with the 1st few notes of Garden...a sprinkle at first...harder as the song crescendoed...coming down in a full DOWNPOUR as the song climaxed. "I WILL WAAAAAALLK INTO YOUR GARDEN!" Everybody had their hands in the air, singing with all of their strength. I was in another place. The band's love of Neil Young was clear with a amazing cover of Rockin' In The Free World. The show closer was just as epic as the opener. Indifference. No lights, just candle on the stage as Eddie sang us into the night. "How much difference does it make?"...Everything
