Our friends at All-Ages Movement Project (AMP) are currently in the running for a $50,000 grant to expand access to all-ages music across the country. You can help by voting for AMP once a day through Sunday, February 28th at http://allages.net/vote. The top 10 contenders win, and AMP is currently ranked #10, so they really need your help to make it across the finish line. Go to http://allages.net/vote. Log in and then click "vote for this idea".
AMP GRANT GOALS:
AMP was formed when the founders of successful all-ages venues and youth music and civic engagement organizations came together to envision how they could best work toether for a national movement.
AMP's goal is for every community, rural or urban, red state or blue state, wealthy or impoverished, to have a safe accessible place where people of all ages can participate in grassroots music culture and have access to the tools of culture making. What if we could build something that was sustainable but still creatively vital? What if we could build a national movement to eliminate the barriers that keep kids under 21 from being able to see their favorite bands play? What kind of cultural and political impact might that have?
To make this possible, AMP has created IN EVERY TOWN, a first of its kind all-ages music "manualfesto" which is part field manual and part documentary history with detailed information on finding the right space, building good relationships with civic authorities, grassroots promotion and fundraising, participatory organizational models, etc. With the help of the $50,000 grant, AMP will release this publication and take it on the road.
"Music is for all people. Strange how many people forget this once they cross that invisible line of the drinking age. Luckily there are those who not only believe in that idea, but have been committed to creating all-ages spaces that celebrate it. AMP lays it out for all to see in this book. They make it political, they make it practical, they make it happen. " - Ian MacKaye, Fugazi

Jesus people. Get a grip. They will be here when they are good and ready. This was not a news announcement about tours or bootlegs.
keep the philly show comments coming...i think there hilarious...even though this is a much more important event, i get a chuckle every time i hear another philly remark...
I don't agree with the all-ages thing. I do believe in the cause for under 21 to be able to enrich thier lives, but innocents is still alive and well out there some where and I think that should be cherished. Sorry really believe in music makes a difference
All ages..no alcohol..parental accompaniment..good music..great memories
50k, really? Instead of asking us all to go register for a new site, couldn't PJ just donate part of their concessions sales to pay for this? Venues probably make that much in parking fees for a PJ show...
All things being relative, it would seemingly be easy for PJ to make this happen.
