Congratulations, I guess, but I just don't get it. All it is is tribal from what I can tell, with ev in there. What is the fascination here? I mean seriously, congrats to the winner, but it doesn't seem so original. There's a whole generation of people running around with these meaningless tribal tats, just to say they got a tattoo. I'm sorry, I'm not trying to rain on Barb's parade, but I thought the fans of a band like this would be a little less "poseristic". This is my all time favorite band, and I've seen the frat boys and girls on every tour since lolla '92 at the shows that freak out, spilling their beers when "Jeremy" is played, and this is what reminds me of them. I don't know, maybe I'm not seeing something everybody else here seems to be, I just don't. Peace, & Barb, please don't take this the wrong way, you are talented.

I think you are just seeing it wrong, it is not tribal at all...it is a wave. There is no ev in there. The wave spells out "TEN".

I'm with MakingWaves, mp210001 missed the boat on this art. This isn't tribal at all. It's a wave that spells out "TEN", and quotes lyrics from Release...lyrics that I think really fits. "I'll ride the wave where it takes me," think about how far in the 18 or so years since Ten was released that "the wave" has taken both the band and it's fans.

for those who asked about the small type, it says "I'll ride the wave" at the top, then at the bottom, "where it takes me". The larger type on the left-hand side says PJ in the Ten-era font. and as already pointed out, the wave spells out TEN.
this has been so much fun to participate, and so many people sent in such awesome designs....it was fun to see what fellow fans came up with! i was in great company in the contest, no doubt!

Very cool. This was the one I voted for too. I'm Canadian, so therefore I was unable to compete in the contest, which pissed me off but now I think it would have been a waste of time anyway. Even if I had've submitted a design I probably would have still voted for Barb. I can't wait to proudly wear it, plus I'm thinking tattoo, it's that cool. Congrats!

Waves and Pearl Jam connect on many levels. I get it. But "Ten" has such a strong connection to basketball and NBA hoops, I thought the NBA logo knock off was much more appropriate.
This design matches recent PJ design. But, it lacks obvious meaning and obvious meaning is a foundational element of "Ten."
The design should have reflected some essential element of the original album. The knock off NBA logo worked on so many levels.
And no, "I'll ride the wave where it takes me" is not a great lyric. Honestly, the writer of that lyric has, by his own admission, made great efforts to control and limit the wave that "Ten" spawned.
Great design. I'm looking for the name 'Nina' because it reminds me of Al Hirschfield's work (forgive me if I've spelled his name incorrectly). I'm with 'left the porch' - disappointed as a Canadian not to enter, but certainly would have chosen yours anyway. Congrats!!

What you call "tribal" actually spells TEN. Look closely.
Actually aside from the #10 being Mookie's # and the band (namely Jeff and Ed) being huge B Ball fans, Ten has way more to do with waves than basketball. Oceans is about waves and surfing. Not a single mention of basketball in any song. And "I'll ride the wave, where it takes me" IS a GREAT lyric, and I think Ed has chilled a lot on the whole squashing the wave that Ten created. After all he seems pretty behind this whole re-issue thing. And the lacks "obvious meaning" comment? It's a t-shirt, how much meaning are you looking for? I think that it is very PJ and oriented and the fact that the wave says Ten and they cross at the top making the Roman numeral, really what more do you want? Once again Barb, well done, no matter what Easy E says. What does he know about rock and roll anyway?
