Wild Salmon Center board member Stone Gossard recently had the opportunity to meet with Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA) and Wild Salmon Center staff to discuss the Pacific Salmon Stronghold Conservation Act.
Introduced on April 2nd by Senator Cantwell, with with co-sponsorship from the entire West Coast Senate delegation, the Act will establish a new, proactive U.S. policy that recognizes the need for conservation of the healthiest remaining Pacific salmon ecosystems --salmon strongholds-- as a complement to vital efforts to recover threatened and endangered salmon populations. It will also create a grants program to support cooperative conservation efforts that implement locally-led, high value conservation actions in healthy wild salmon ecosystems.
For more information on the Pacific Salmon Stronghold Conservation Act and how you can get involved, visit the Wild Salmon Center website or call (503) 222-1804.

Thanks, Stone. As a fellow Pacific Northwesterner, this really impacts us locally and helps save a resource that should have never gotten to this point.

Hey...a lot of those salmon come from BC...are you guys going to work with our "eco-friendly" windbag of a premier to ban fish farms and protect our rivers as well. That would be great!
Anyway, great stuff you're doing! Save the Salmon!
