Seattle Theater Group (STG) Presents Hootenanny For A Healthy Gulf with Mike McCready, Duff McKagan & Friends at The Moore Theatre in Seattle on Thursday, September 2, 2010.
nice surprise from EV. I'm super-pumped to hear (MORE THAN :30 of this! wtf!), and whatever else he and the boys may have in store. 5 years ago this is the time & place (we) all imagined -no epic deal to fulfill; drop sonic however and whenever you wish!
What an unbelievably amazing song! I've read Eat Pray Love, Betters Days is so complimentary to her story. Great job capturing the moment and the feeling of this true story with your music Ed. You’ve done it again! Kudos on the amazing song for this amazing book/movie.
I think that the movie actually looks worthy of a talent like Ed's...the STORY definitely is. I used to love that we kept PJ and Ed as our own little secret...but at some point we have to share...we've reached that point and beyond..and i for one say..Good For YOU PJ...and/or ED!
I heard this song about a week ago I think...and I LOVE IT!
he did it because of Julia Roberts... there's a small circle ed vedder keeps: sean penn, susan sarandon, tim robbins... and the song is not bad, it's just not a new sound. you can call it predictable or trademark eddie but it's just what it is, a song and if you don't like it,it's because it's not for you...
i also HATE julia roberts and the movie looks like a real "chick flick", but the song seems cool. my wife says the book was great and she will be seeing the movie, just not with me. told her you'd have to pay me about $200 to sit through it.
Gilbert's earlier book on Eustace Conway ("Last American Man") may have intrigued Ed due to similarities with Krakauer's "Into the Wild" story on McCandless.
That is classic Eddie.... LOVE IT!! Reminds me of the unplugged/solo concert I saw him in Baltimore, MD last June. Great show & great voice Eddie, as usual!!!
That trailer reeks of self-involved bullshit. Eat Pray Love Puke.
C'mon, Eddie. You've got to draw the line somewhere, and I think the line was two exits back.
Agreed. This is a bit much. And I thought Croon Spoon was a shark jump...At least the song is good.
Reading the other responses in this thread made me think, well, maybe I was just cranky the other day. To each his/her own. If some people like the sound then great. Enjoy.
Personally (that's the key word) I prefer Eddie's voice attached to darker themes such as "Into the Wild". His range is so remarkable he can transition from manic glee to despair without a trace of heavy-handed authoring. The Eat Pray Love tune sounds like something that was written to mimic Eddie's voice in a scene that might have had a radio in the background.
But what do I know? Work when you've got it, play while you can.
Romantic Eddie always finds a way to entertain the idea of expanding his musical talent to places that we think he won't go, but he does. He can; he is that good! This song is perfect for the story. I love it!
All of the posts ragging on Eddie's song. I hope you're not the same people who beg and plead to be able to meet Eddie face to face. Try telling him in person that his song reeks and he's gone to far. I'm sure that will endear you to him for many years to come.
I'd tell him to his face that this song is phoned in. It is. He'd probably admit it.
I'd also tell him that his crappy Cubs song from 08 probably jinxed the team for another 100 years.
You know what bi*****joe grow up. If you don't like eddie and the cubs and jinxes then keep it to yourself and find a new band. This is a fan club remember. Not a dump site. If your having a bad day please go to teslas' website and trash them. We met them and their a bunch of snobs who deserve the trashin. Pearl jam is beloved all around the world and there music changes and helps peoples lives. Not only there music but through donating, if you don't believe me do your homework and check out this site and see what their committed to. Please don't be offended by all this. When your next album comes out I'll totally check it out. Good luck in 2010
The song sounds great ! I don't want to write - like always great, but thats true. I know, I'm not the right person to judge this music, 'cause for me it's more than music. There are my feelings, music, the way how it makes me feel - satisfide, confident and free. Does any other band can makes you feel like that? Just in the way they played? I'm addicted to PJ music, Eddie music and his voice... So I cannot be objective. But anyway who is objective on this site? :-)
For all those people who writtin negative coments - maybe it's time to think what you really want? Maybe it's not music in itself, maybe you just need someone to make him feel completly shit, when your day is shity ? Think twice before You spoke or write something really stupid..
I used to love that we kept PJ and Ed as our own little secret...but at some point we have to share...we've reached that point and beyond..and i for one say..Good For YOU PJ...and/or ED!
amen to that! it's ok to share... :) knowing what good this band has done for me makes it seem like bad karma to want to keep it all to myself.
Great book, WORST CASTING EVER!!! Julia is too loud for this role...obnoxious.
But the song works, and who gives a rip if he makes it for a Julia Roberts movie? Maybe you dudes should read the book...perhaps you might get something out of it. He probably read it. Ed is secure in his manhood ;)
bicyclejoe....I'm so looking forward to you next CD or single!!! I'm sure you are super skilled in the world of music, so I cannot WAIT to see what you produce.
Oh, ps...Ed is on his way over, and he'll be looking foward to a spirited discussion about your vast music knowledge. :)
Thanks for the support of furthering Bicycle Joe and his musical aspirations and the possibility of future positive commentary. ps...Ed we're rooting for you:-)
Book was great! I really enjoyed reading it...especiall the UTI part.. that was pretty funny!! Not sure if they will include that in the movie.
Another book that was made into a movie was Running With Scissors. The movie made justice to the book which is rare.

This sucks, its not on UK itunes and I want it. Man living in the Uk is like living in the last century
Not on the French ITunes either ....
Seems we BOTH live in the last Century then.
It's on ITunes, why should it be restricted depending on the area where you live ? It just doesn't make sense to me :(
Comments
Well, I guess that answers that mystery once and for all...
i hope theres vinyl
Oscar potential...
what a crap looking movie
inspiring song! I really liked the book :)
I like, i like
My wife has read the book and said the song will work really well for the story.
yess!! you're right!
Read the book, it was great. But I'm kinda surprised Eddie would do a song for this movie.

I read that Eddie did it because Javier Bardem (who is in the movie) is a good friend of his.
I hate Julia Roberts and his big mouth!
I really love the song though!
I absolutely love this song!!! I'll be buying it on Tuesday!
I hope they make a 45 version...
give me a cd of it ...not into itunes..make it a hard copy.
That trailer reeks of self-involved bullshit. Eat Pray Love Puke.
C'mon, Eddie. You've got to draw the line somewhere, and I think the line was two exits back.
Looking forward to hearing a quality version of this!
if you get it, you get it. It's beautiful and inspiring!
is it like Lion King? This sounds like it would go good with Lion King.

this sounds so nice!!..where can i hear the whole song?
i love eddie's TONE!!
Like what I heard. Looking forward to hearing the rest of the song. Have not read the book.
sounds amazing!
eat, shit, love looks like a movie I don't want to see, seems like another winner from Eddie though.
C'mon, Eddie. You've got to draw the line somewhere, and I think the line was two exits back.

croon spoon is fun -- music can be fun
as long as I hear more pj/ed I'm happy

I just purchased the song on iTunes! (Before the release date)
Gilbert's earlier book on Eustace Conway ("Last American Man") may have intrigued Ed due to similarities with Krakauer's "Into the Wild" story on McCandless.
Nice tune..Liked 'Guaranteed' much more, but it's a nice tune
That is classic Eddie.... LOVE IT!! Reminds me of the unplugged/solo concert I saw him in Baltimore, MD last June. Great show & great voice Eddie, as usual!!!
Does anyone think the voice/song on the latest AT&T Wireless tv commerial sounds like Eddie??
