A Letter from Eddie on the Christmas Single (and more)...

04.22.09

Hey fellow Humans……
Not only is the single late, the letter ABOUT the single is late….was written a few moons ago….Vedder late than never…..

Dec. 20th
~Letter~

Dear Kind Listeners……

It is mid-December here in Seattle (and most places I imagine), and I find myself compelled to reach out and offer a few words to those of you who have generously supported us over the years…..

Specifically, we felt the need to let you know that the Christmas Single has been recorded(!) Earth shaking news, we know. Goodness gracious….
But truly it is something we take pride in and both sides have turned out pretty cool… However, we also like the idea that you would all receive the Christmas Single by Christmas…Perhaps this is based on the fact that it’s called the CHRISTMAS Single…….

Aahh well….it’s taking longer to make vinyl records these days…. We are currently snowed in as the weather has turned extreme, bordering on the bizarre…and we’ve been hammering away on some NEW STUFF that understandably took priority….

So please accept an apology, as it’s delivered with respect. If it helps to accept it, we can say with some bias, that these songs are gonna be cool even if they don’t arrive until Valentine’s Day…or Saint Patrick’s Day…4th of July?….

While I have your ear, let me reach out to all those out there who helped support the preservation of a threatened surf break and National Park called Trestles…..public support and keen activism dealt the enemies of our ocean a big blow earlier in the year…..they came back with an appeal on the Federal level and we were notified two days ago that they were denied…. Put your bulldozers away….No freeway going through….Developers find a different piece of land to rape and pillage, cause we won this one…..

It’s spectacular news….and rare… elated, relieved, and inspired….it was noted in final judgment that the powers that be, were heavily swayed by the galvanized support of the citizens who spoke out…..The power of this result goes beyond a surf spot and saving a historical landmark, and encourages all of us to stay active and do what we can, when we can, for the issues that affect us personally…. Diligence cannot be underestimated… My activist friend, Matt McClain from Surfrider, said to me, “constant pressure, endlessly applied!”

There you go…. exhilarating when it works. As exhilarating as it must be to be a businessman who, if they won, would’ve gotten the green light to build a freeway and put up houses and privatize the beach for profit. Which side do you want to be on?

As we’re on the subject of activism in the Christmas spirit, I’d love to bring up one last item that is important to me and many others...the West Memphis 3.

To give you an update, there was evidence delivered to the presiding judge on the West Memphis 3 case back in September...years of hard work and intelligent gathering of facts were dismissed outright…For you that may be concerned, we wanted it to be known that this was expected and not the worst of news…..

With that dismissal, we will soon be appealing to the Arkansas Supreme Court and then on to Federal court, if necessary.

With the new DNA and forensic evidence that ties others to these dreadful crimes and demonstrates that our guys Damien, Jason and Jesse are innocent, we are confident that the truth will come out.

With this explanation comes a plea… as the dates for these future rulings come upon us, it would mean so much to have your support….This case has dragged on at a snail’s pace while three innocent men wake up every morning in prison; one on death row….

We here will provide you with all the tools you need so when the time comes we can celebrate together as these men are given back their freedom…..

***Breaking news: April 2009***

Damien Echols has filed in the Arkansas Supreme Court. The case is now moving, and we expect a decision in the next few months.

A jaw-dropping affidavit has been included as part of his appeal. Read Mara Leveritt's report on this story that should overturn the convictions on its constitutional merit alone:

Thanks for reading….thanks for listening….Hope you and your families and loved ones are healthy and well…..So much tragedy in the world…Keep on loving each other.

Enjoy your Christmas…We get a nice gift on Jan. 20th...

Happy New Year and Christmas Single by summer!

-Eddie

Comments

It's good to hear this good notices from you Ed!!
Take care.

=)...

Awesome!

I could care less about the WM3.

Thanks for some useless news-

nice...

why was this message dated december posted April :D

yay an update!

We don't mind waiting Eddie :) It feels good to be behind a band that cares about the important issues and is socially aware. Very inspiring.

"MH80359" u are one inconsiderate fuck. 3 innocent guys in prison and you dismiss it like that? U need to go and stand beside the crooked cunts who have been hiding the truth for many a year now.

"Zoso" it was dated Dec and only sent now because it is LATE, as was explained!! Also there is updated news on WM3 case so that may have added to it.

As for update Ed/10C thanking you, tis appreciated.

the delay of the single is no big deal, but if this is a time sensitive issue, shouldn't this message from Ed have been delivered a bit more urgently?!

...."With this explanation comes a plea… as the dates for these future rulings come upon us, it would mean so much to have your support….This case has dragged on at a snail’s pace while three innocent men wake up every morning in prison; one on death row…."

c'mon, it's almost May!

Thanks for the update , see you in Albany!

Yay!!!

(and it's supposed to be I couldN'T care less, not I could) ;)

Hi Eddie,
It was great meeting you at the ATL session. I can't tell you how happy I was to see that you really are a nice person. You know, you never know. I have a huge stack of PJ bootlegs & all the studio albums & after listening to them all a million times and seeing your band (& you solo) in concert at least a half dozen times, you think you know the person, but you really don't. Anyway, this letter just confirms how nice you are. I applaud you for using your means to seek peace and justice in the world. I'm going to save you a place on my cloud. Please contact me when you come back to ATL. I'd love to introduce you to my family. Take care, AW

Ah, apology accepted. :)

I just wish I had seen this on the PJ page first, not on the forum where there was a thread about this where I assumed was a type-out from Deep magazine so without reading the whole thread, I ran outside to the mailbox...with my pants falling down. :( How humiliating!

Ahem... yes, we did have a nice gift on January 20th. :)

And thanks for the updates on the WM3 case - I am glad that things are moving along! I cannot even imagine how difficult for the loved ones to go through this everyday for YEARS.

"Diligence cannot be underestimated" - right on. But it's also important to have ongoing support around you to keep going...otherwise, at times you feel so worn out and want to give up.

I applaud all the activists who keep fighting and not giving up - even if it is something I do not agree with. It does take a lot of passion and energy.

I'm still feeling embarrassed, though... wondering if my neighbors saw me with my pants down. *mutters*

That's what you get for ASSuming, eh? :P

Thanks for writing to us...and uh... happy early Christmas. :)

Better late than never!

nice!!
see you guys in a few months! :)

Inspiring, serious and thoughtful. Just what you would want to hear :) Thanks Eddie.

It does make me smile (in an exasperated way rather than with joy) to read some of the responses to Ed's letter. I have to say I thought PJ fans were more thoughtful and intelligent than some of those contributing to this forum. Not many bands take the time to engage with their fans on a level beyond the fluff and vacuous happenings of the mainstream music scene. Yet, here at least, we have a band and a lead singer actively supporting issues and causes that truly mean something in a world of increasing selfishness and an 'I'm OK Jack' attitude. I felt so disappointed that some of this selfishness has been exposed here with the bitching and griping about not receiving the single yet, or for the slow response of EV. And especially the heartless and dumb message from MH83509. Just be thankful that bands like PJ exist and that they and their fans care, and will always stand up for what they believe to be right. That's a true gift.

Thanks for the update Eddie!!!

Can't wait to see you in June!!!!

Good to hear from ya Ed, hope all is well with you and the band. Free the West Memphis Three...

see yah in philly!

Eddie Vedder, writing songs, saving the environment, and saving lives!!
Proud of you brother!!

Hey, thanks for keeping us all posted and thanks for caring so much and stay firm on all those issues, especially with the Memphis3. This certainly is hell and a hell of a lot of time behind bars for those guys. Stay optimistic!

Well Said and the same can be said for the person that responded to my porch post inquiring about the latest status of the WM3..you know who you are ;(

Thanks for the news, I laughed seeing that is was a few months late. The way I see it, this is an early christmas/birthday/something else gift, and as excited as I am for the single, there's no point in complaining about things that are out of our control. I'll wait patiently, though simultaneously excitedly.

Having just read a good amount about the WM3, it's such a disgusting, dishonorable, and shameful state that our country is in, where people who abuse their power and falsely imprison these three men for almost 2 decades. Hopefully the idiot judge who has been overseeing the trials and dismissing the retrials, the same one from 2003, will be removed from his undeserved and unfulfilled post.

Thanks Ed, same to you!
Peace

Thanks for the update Ed! :)

we're just now getting a letter that was written last year, four months ago? thanks.. i guess? maybe ed's just a really slow writer and he just finished it. he started a new letter today. it starts out, "dear kind listeners... i'm going to announced some tour dates. you'll be receiving this letter sometime in october after the tour's over." that's all he's written so far. :)

Thanks for the information. Peace.

free the west memphis 3 and just like eddie said there is too much hate and tragedy in the world. cant wait to hear the single. i live for your music everyday and thank u ed and pj love shareen

Thanks Ed, and congrats on a 2nd baby girl!

I wonder if Ed will read these comments haha. Its cool to see hes been writing to the fans on this new site. I cant wait for the "4th of july" single haha

Ed, Thanks for taking the time to write to us. You are such an inspiration to me. Your music has been a huge part of my life for 17 years. You have given so many people such a gift. The words "thank you" just don't seem to be appropriate enough. I hope you somehow know how we feel. Stay healthy and safe. See you in Nashville.....Kathy

Kathy hit the nail on the head.

Thx Ed, and the band for that matter, for being such a great group of guys that deliver some true hope, optimism, and inspiration in a world where all of those seem so far and few between at times. haven't researched the Memphis3 much, but I know the main details of it...and I'll be pushing for those three in my heart and thoughts. This world has got a lot of work to do to be the beautiful place that it's truly capable of being...here is to hoping that one day it'll come true.

Hopefully this means we are getting a little closer to receiving the single.

thanks for the letter Eddie! I can't wait to hear PJ's new stuff!

Thanks, Ed!
Peace!

When read this article I know come from you.

It's peacefully.

Thanks to everyone who makes PJ.com

Best regards ¡¡¡

Even though it seems like the world is fucked, Make sure you appreciate the loved ones around you and to keep an opened and positive state of mind,,,It seems to help

I'm so happy to hear you guys are hard at work!!! Can't wait for the single! Hit me up when you guys get back to Cincinnati!!!

Well... Bush lost, I lost my job after 19 years, and I thought I lost my christmas gift from Pearl Jam. My company didnt get a bailout but Eddie and the boys will come through as always...... I hope. They got me through the early 90's so I'm sure they will help me pull this off.

It's always cool when hard work and dedication pay off. Sadly that isn't always the case.

Thanks for the updates Ed. See you in Albany.

ah...Eddie is solid. I like this sort of acknowledgement of imperfection. Definitely buys PJ another couple months for the single;) Awesome about the beach being saved too!

Eddie,

Thank you for the letter. It was beautiful. No worries. I will be most grateful whenever the vinyl arrives.
You had brought the wm3 to my attention some time ago. Although I have not been keeping up with them it is good to hear things are moving in the right direction. I am a san diego (imperial beach) native but have never heard of trestles. After reading your letter I looked it up and am delighted to hear that the beach will be saved. If I ever get back down there I will have to check it out.
I have been enjoying my super deluxe box set. When that arrived it felt like christmas.
Thank you again for the letter, it really is appreciated.

Sincerely,

Michelle

p.s. go backspacer go
p.s.s. cool link that explains the trestles story

Ed you are TRULY Awesome and I love and appriciate everything that you have given to US the fans, Thanks fpr keeping us up to date and for taking the time out to let us know EXACTLY what was going on with the Xmas single.

CANNOT wait to hear the Xmas single (especially as you said it's NEW!!! YAY!!)and I CANNOT wait for the new album to arrive.

Love you Ed..YOU'RE THE BEST!!!

thanks for the explains... we understand to you
we keep on rockin in the free world.. with you eddie ...!!

you know that we support forever! good luck

Meh. Imagine you guys being kinda busy. Glad to hear it's on the way...

with a family at home in these troubled days you always have to fear losing your job. never knowing what the future might bring. so this is my own worry. but there are hundreds of thousands troubles out there on this planet.
but there’s still some hope. it’s not about any politician talking some rubbish, it’s about people that really care. even though I haven’t met any of the guys from pearl jam, they seem to me being such good people that care. and this letter of eddie underlines that, I’d say. being a pearl jam fan you know you are in a good community, ‘cause I also have to say that I have never ever met so many nice and helpful people and that are the pearl jam fans. so a big thank you from austria, europe, to you guys from pearl jam and to you, the fans out there.

Keep on doing what you do, Eddie.

With love and respect, J

i could care less means you could actually care..

the correct phrase is "i couldn't care less"

i have donated my correction fee to Save the Seagulls.

thanks

Great to hear from you, Eddie! Thanks for the update on the x-mas single...I was just wondering about that. More thanks for the mention and your continued support of the WM3! This case has troubled me since day one so I anxiously await justice for Jason, Jessie and Damien. See you at the Ryman in June...can't wait!

I don't mean to be greedy but for your jewish fans can we get 8 singles for those 8 crazy nights???

Thanks for the update, looking forward to seeing you guys perform for a tenth time

Cheers,
Jared

12/20. I am laughing my ass off, 10C.

Looking forward to the single, the album, and the tour.

Nice to get the late update. I like it being called the christmas single. I always get it before christmas, the following year. No complaints here. Please make a couple of stops in the NW this fall.

What Baby girl nobody told us.

It's a wonderful feeling knowing that the people in the band I admire the most in this world live their lives with such compassion and love for others. Thank you for an amazing (almost) 20 years. Thank you for your inspiring songs... thank you for everything. I can't thank you enough. Pearl Jam is truly incredible!

See you at the Cali festival in August!!! Whoo hoo!!

Peace and Love,
PJ :)

Thanks ed, keep up all the good work,
Pearl jam are the greatest band ever, Thank YOU!!!!!!!!

thank you Eddie...keep up the good work!

Thanks! It doesn't matter if its late or not, just the fact that you even bother to write a letter means a lot.

I enjoyed your letter and the interesting information you provided about WM3. Thanks for always keeping us informed!

Thanks Ed. Flying from Denver to Maui to see you in June! Love to have a beer. Thanks again for the updates.

Very inspiring and thoughtful words! Thanks for the update, Ed. Let's hope, and pray, the WM3 finally get the justice they so ardently deserve!

Take good care.

Ed....
you guys rocked Columbia this past June...thanks for taking time to show much love and appreciation to us fans. Keep on rocking. Good vibes your way ....

a song (always) comes to mind... People Have The Power!

Thanks Eddie...you're a very nice person. My big dream is to met you a day. I hope PJ will show in Italy in 2009: I was in Venice 2 years ago, when a storm stopped all performance: bad day, big disappointement... See you soon in Verona's Arena, ok?

Congratulations for the second daughter (what's her name?) and kisses to Olivia.

Elena

Thanks for the update. I cherish all of my PJ stuff. It's framed and well kept. Can't wait to see you in June. maybe this time one of my biggest dreams will come true and I can meet you.

No big deal Ed, I know it's probably because you guys are finalizing these big plans to play at the Spectrum in Philly this September for 3 nights. AHHHHHHHHHHH the rumors, I love them. But seriously, when's it gonna be confirmed. Gotta bring Rodman to this show, get on his shoulders, and have Dr. J come on stage, McCready gets on his shoulders, and you can have an all out chicken fighting battle during Bushleaguer. I can't wait. The Xmas single can wait, you really have to do this. Peace and Love, Peace and Love. See you June 12.

P.S. to several geniuses who have said PJ have played the Spectrum in Philly, I think one of you clowns mentioned 2003. They have played the Wachovia CENTER a couple times, most recently in October 2005 after their 2 Borgata shows but never the old SPECTRUM, now with the corporate tag Wachovia SPECTRUM. Check out Rememberthespectrum.com and take a "trip" down memory lane for some of you Cherry Garcia phanatics and you might learn something. Bye for now.

MH80359 --"There is too much tragedy in the world."-- The only way that will change is if we care for our brothers and sisters. And so it should be.

Great Read, even though i am from australia and alot of that stuff was all new to me, its great to read. Peace

Thank you Eddie and the band, the fanclub and everyone involved with bringing your music and words to us. Shining the light on the WM3 is much needed. There are others like them out there...so fight for justice for all; even those with lower profiles.

Can not wait for the single and the new tunes.

Ed,
Many thanks for the single update and the WM3 update. Here's hoping the linked article is damning to the prosecution and shines the light of truth on an appalling miscarriage of justice .

funny how after all these years... that read like it was written to my by an old friend i've known forever. ahh eddie i love you, in a cool manly way ;)

Cheers.

MH83509 I think you should be expelled from the 10C.
you should also learn some English.

Hooray for the Memorial Day single!

Thanks for that Ed. Im in South Africa when can i expect my christmas single ?

Thanks for that Ed. Im in South Africa when can i expect my christmas single ?

awsome news all around Ed! thanx for the update

The waiting is the hardest part...However, I am just happy to be ALIVE EVEN FLOW I plan to DO THE EVOLUTION SOMETIMES before my DAUGHTER is an ELDERLY WOMAN BEHIND A COUNTER IN A SMALL TOWN. I want to BREAKERFALL, but who can predict a GREEN DISEASE that might PUSH ME, PULL ME into a NOTHINGMAN. The BIG WAVE has made for a WORLD WIDE SUICIDE that is HARD TO IMAGINE. This STATE OF LOVE AND TRUST has kept me FAITHFUL and UNEMPLOYABLE during my RELEASE from SATAN'S BED...

Can't wait to see you in Memphis!!!!!

My name is Molly. I live in Austin,TX. My letter was published in DEEP winter/spring 2007...about my son Cash and losing my father. I am so incredibly overwhelmed. The fact that I was heard by those who inspire me most, is truely a gift. I just wanted to thank you again.
Thanks for your latest letter. Good stuff. You always have my support.
See you in Memphis June 20th:)
~M

FREE THE WM3!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, I've been thinking over the past few months "hmmm, isn't there going to be a XMas single?" And I just kind of let it pass - so many PJ happenings over the past year - band tour, Ed tour-, maybe they were too busy in the studio, maybe there were other things going on, maybe no XMas single(!?).

Patience rewarded.

And a letter of hope and inspiration.

Do what you can, where you are & with what you have. And be good to each other!

~peace & love~

I learned a long time ago to put things into perspective. There are so many people who live a horrible existence and had to deal with hardships - (IE: WM3). If the worst thing I have to deal with is waiting for a record, I think I have a pretty good life. We should all be thankful for the things we have and more important the people we share them with.

I totally agree with danleri

Ed,

This note from you feels like a letter from an old friend. Thanks for keeping it real. Hug your babies tight and keep fighting for what's right and just in the world.

I'll take the single whenever it works for you guys. I know you all have other lives.

Thanks for the update and for caring about the fans. See you in Baltimore.

Love You.

Thanks great to hear it!!

Wow. I'm surprised at the negativity. It's a nice note, Ed. We are lucky to love a band that respects and appreciates its fans. Love to everyone out there; think about what you are projecting. (I mean karmic-ly, not to EV personally.)

Thanks Ed! Great as always, See ya in Perth **Crosses Fingers** lol

Thanks Ed for the update. Can't wait to set up the turntable again! I'm extremely excited to be spending my 50th (where did the time go) birthday at your show in Baltimore on the 15th with my 12 year old son. Kudos and much gratitude to you and the band for taking an active interest in the important ecological issues the world is facing and making people aware of the great social injustices taking place. We've had a few victories recently and it feels great actively participating in trying to make the world a better place for my son through peaceful social activism. Please keep us posted on any developments. Peace and best regards, Joni

cheers for the update edd.apologie fully accepted! hope to catch you soon back in the uk,shame they knocked astoria down(the swines),a rerun of 20th april would be nice.
peace n grunge...jd

Don't know where you're getting your history, but I saw PJ at the Spectrum.

Ed...Can't believe that you haven't held to your ideals about ticket pricing. Over $80.00 to go see you solo? Crazy dude. I know times have changed and you are running a corp. over there but really man what the hell happened?

Go Raibh Maith agat Eddie,

Hope you pencil in Dublin or Cork on the next tour!

Slan

Its always wonderful to see "the man" lose to nature. Congrats to all the activists out there. You are democracy!

Thanks ED, Finland support you...

Eddie, thank you very much my friend. I really don´t mind waiting for another great piece of music!!!!
Good to know about the Trestles´ National Park and about the West Memphis guys...

Thanks for the respectful way you are treating us!!!

Best Wishes!

Sandro Ribeiro

If only Ed is apogizing It must be his fault it's late?
I hope the Christmas single is a keeper.
Maybe next year you can cover Cat Stevens Father & Son...It would be a privilege to hear E.V. sing that song.

***************************MORE INSTRAMENTALS !!!********************* YOU GUYS ARE GREAT WHEN YOU DONT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THE LYRICS. MORE BASS, more bass JEFF. NEED SOME MORE TRAVELING MUSIC PJ.

Thanks Ed.
What a great thing is the ImTranslator in Firefox;)...

This is great You all care not only about Yourselves. You have the power to be heard and You use it well. I'm proud of You. And following You I try to make some peace in my small world.

Take care:)

PS. Try to find again small country in Europe, named Poland. Can't wait to see You again.

KB90013, Exactly! There are so many other things going on besides the fact that our free gift is late. We're lucky that we have this fan club doing all the other things they do to keep the fans happy. It is emotionally and mentally exhausting to spend time in prison, let alone to spend this much time there being innocent! These fans sound like a group of unappreciative whiners and have no idea what it's like to have your freedoms taken away. Not being able to attend a pj concert or the oppurtunity to play our super deluxe sets in the comfort of our own homes. Come on people, we should be more offended that our beaches are being destroyed and our freedoms robbed, rather than where our x-mas single is! Be grateful you are able to sit in front of your laptops, reading letters from the greatest frontman alive and not in a six by ten cell with no window wondering what the weather's like and what your loved ones are doing! I'm sickened by the selfishness. Please think about something other than yourselves and thank God we have the oppurtunity to even hear the music this band has given us. Check out wm3 and try to donate, because lawyers are expensive enough, without having to pay for the dna testing and the research and investigations to prove your innocence! Even if you can't donate something, give support to these guys that have to spend their days waking up to chaos and living with strangers. Let them know the world is still out there and we haven't forgotten them! Thanks for the update Ed, we'll see you in philly.

To all of you ungrateful morons with your selfish posts, I suppose you have all the time in the world to make special records to give your fans as a gift while while working at your regular jobs, spending time with your families and caring about the world's problems. I doubt it, one, because people like that don't have any fans and two, you think only about yourself. How many late birthday cards have you sent?? Give Eddie and 10c a break or don't bother to renew your membership. Nobody needs fans like you.

When at first, no Christmas single arrived - I really thought I missed it. Now I know, for a fact, that it is being delayed as per usual and will get here when it gets here! Truthfully, if it ever arrived on time - I would be totally shocked.

I'm glad that Pearl Jam is a band that puts it's money to use for the environment and social causes. When I was camping at San Onofre State Beach; I couldn't help but wander and wonder at it's innate beauty. Now I know Pearl Jam has put it's money where it's mouth is and tried to save this place - this land (and sea) that deserves to be preserved for future campers like me. I've paid my dues to a fan club of substance and integrity. I've also made a donation (albeit small) to the Surfrider Foundation to help save the Trestles. For more fact\fiction, go here: http://www.surfrider.org/savetrestles/

p.s. Congratulations to Pearl Jam's sponsored, "BACKSPACER" for winning the Great Turtle Race! I'm sure the entire band is proud of your super swimming and bad@$$ flipper skills!

ok, this makes me feel better about waiting for the x-mas/labor day single. it's a video on how vinyl is produced/made. wow. take your time boys!

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7973950.stm
oh and...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iByt8IinjC0&feature=player_embedded

Oh I'm glad I saw this today!

Yes the snow in December was awesome - some of the most fun times were had then. Sledding down Charleston and unable to leave West Seattle... great reason to stay home, snowed in. :-D

Update on the WM3... good to know what's going on there.

Looking forward to the single and new stuff!

Memories

ACL needs you to rock the shit out of the show.

Hey to all you angry members. If you don't like the way the fan club is run, get out and rant about shit somewhere else. I'm certain there is a counselor out there for your anger problem. If you feel put off or screwed over, why are you still are here? waiting to get your fan club Christmas GIFT! This band is amazing to even do this and you think they owe you something? We owe them our support for being able to make music that we will pay our hard earned dollars for. They don't sell out and make pretty music that we hear in a Bubble Gum commercial. They are true to form, and allowing them slack is no big deal! Don't Bitch because all you look forward to is the single each year, they have families and take time for doing some good in this world. When was the last time you put time in to fight injustice outside of your job. That's amazing in itself, because they don't have to. Would you even put in the time, if you had millions of fans, millions of dollars, and fame. I think NOT. They don't have to do the single or even write you a letter. These are the things we get as a GIFT. SHUT UP and listen to the band you claim to care so much for that you joined a fucking fan club! Oh, and if you don't care about the WM3, you don't need to comment at all. He didn't say you had to care, just that he was working with it and you might like to know. Be serious and stop thinking of yourself!

Eddie- Thanks for the update, looking forward to the single, even if it comes at Halloween. God bless and good luck!
kj

i think this whole thread demonstrates the fact that you can never please all, can you? no matter how big, how small, or how trivial. people think what they think - getting upset or angry about responses wont change that.

i, however, am pleased to hear all this tho - nice update - great news on wm3 and national park - the chrissy single, well, we'll get it when it arrives, and it'll join the pile of other happy little singles on the shelf. it'll probably even brag about how only the really cool ones arrive late.
but, i didn't join 10c for a piece of vinyl, so i don't really mind.

looking forward to seeing you guys back in australia ... hopefully for summer, hey?? surfs nice ;)

Thank you Ed, hope to see you soon in Colorado...
peace

I've been and remain a Pearl Jam fan since their inception. I have often heard Ed discuss the WM3 case.

As a resident of Memphis, TN (on the other side of the River) this case was important to me as a parent. I got involved with a discussion board on the case that lead to my opportunity to view the evidence files via a FOI request from a fellow poster. I also viewed and photographed the crimescene, albeit in 2000 but before the area was plowed over.

I have read about, researched and discussed this case for years and spoken to parents of the victims, relatives of the convicted, lawyers involved, journalist involved and various others inlcuding some of the founders of the FREE THE WEST MEMPHIS FREE movement. I once thought they were innocent, but I'm of the opinion that the WM3 are guilty based on this research.

While I appreciate the right of Eddie, Natalie Manes, et. al to offer a different opinion, I often wonder how deep they have explored this case and whether they have looked at it without a preconceived bias created by the HBO documentaries. I am anti-dp, but that issue shouldn't be blurred here in regards to this case. The Death Penalty is a separate issue to guilt or innocence.

I would love to sit down and discuss it with Ed. Since I didn't get tix to his Orpheum show here in Memphis...perhaps we can meet for coffee when you are in town? ;-)

Peace

I'll take the slim chance that Eddie or someone close to the band reads this and say thank you for all you do and for finding the strength to survive all you've been through while still being kind enough to give it away when you can.

Wanted the band or solo to consider coming to New Hampshire to play. It's so much nicer a state than Massachusetts, especially that God awful venue in Mansfield. Please check us out.

There's a small intimate hall in Concord, called the Capital Center and we have a much more accessible venue similar to Mansfield, called Meadowbrook in Gilford NH. We have the ocean, pristine lakes and mountains to hike. Besides that, thank you and ten club for saving my life and being part of something bigger than you may think. "There's more to the picture than meets the eye".

Got my X-mas single. Now stay the fuck outta Santa Cruz...

Hey TM109540 -- know your stuff before you post - PJ played the Spectrum when it was First Union Spectrum and it was on April 28, 2003. I should know - I had awesome seats. One of their greatest shows.

December 27 2009 I have still not got the single. They said recently "Got some if your need it" C'mon it's been a year.

I just read this now...thank you Eddie. You have been an inspiration to me since the early 90's. I love you guys.

Peace,
Alison in NYC

Oh and I still never got the single either...not sure what happened :/
