Many of you have asked what you can do to help the people of Haiti.
Here are a few great relief organizations we have worked in the past that are on the ground mobilizing aid:
Partners in Health
CARE
American Red Cross
Doctors Without Borders

Thank God you are jumping on this right away...the Red Cross NEEDS EVERYONE'S HELP!
What a terrible thing to have happen to a place where people are already so destitute that they are literally eating dirt.
Apparently you can donate $10 to the Red Cross by texting "HAITI" to 90999. The $10 will be added to your phone bill. See Red Cross website for more info.
I learned of Partners in Health through Arcade Fire. Great organization that is in Haiti now setting up field hospitals throughout. I have donated there. Thank you for spreading the word donatePIH.org This is the time where prayers are not enough.
UK taxpayers should use the UK sites:
Red Cross
Doctors Without Borders
as any donation has Gift Aid added to it (basically a tax relief that goes to the charity rather than the donor: the government gives back the basic rate tax you already paid on your donation to the charity, meaning they receive an extra 28% to what you give. ie, you give £100, the charity gets £128)
in Mexico you can help by donating to the bank account 4042482604 to the name of Protección Civil de Haití in HSBC Bank...or directly to the red cross
in Italy just read this:
http://download.repubblica.it/pdf/2010/donazioni.pdf
You can also donate to Shelterbox, my friend is one of their volunteers and goes to disaster zones. They are on the way to Haiti.

For info -
We respond instantly to natural and manmade disasters by delivering boxes of aid to those who are most in need. They work with other aid agencies, charities and NGOs
Each box supplies an extended family of up to 10 people with the following
A ten-person tent
a range of other survival equipment including thermal blankets and insulated ground sheets, mosquito nets (if needed),
a means of water purification
A basic tool kit containing a hammer, axe, saw, trenching shovel, hoe head, pliers and wire cutters
a wood burning or multi-fuel stove, pans, utensils, bowls, mugs and water storage containers.
a children’s pack containing drawing books, crayons and pens
All our thoughts are with the people from Haiti here in Québec. A lot of people are getting involved to help them out with an other tragedy that is knock outting the country.
You can donate through: http://www.worldvision.ca/wvmondiale/Pages/VisionMondiale.aspx
and you can also go to: www.lacoalitionhumanitaire.ca
which CARE Canada, Oxfam Canada, Oxfam-Québec et l'Aide à l'enfance Canada are already over there trying to do their best.
You can also go through the Canadian Red Cross for donation.
Hope they're getting peace for a while.
I just gave $50 bones to the Red Cross! LET'S GO PEOPLE!!!

cmon obama,,,,get the lead out.the vacation is over!!!!!
Hey Pat Robertson. You, are a fucking idiot. The sooner you leave this earth the better. Now that is not a very Christian thing to say but neither is the bullshit that spews from your mouth on a daily basis. You say you are doing Jesus' work. Have you ever really asked yourself 'What would Jesus do.' He wouldn't be spreading the messages that you speak of. He would be helping those people. Jesus was probably the most liberal guy there was. He did things that at the time were not the norm. I really hope you Christians are right about heaven, hell and all that other stuff. I can just see you strutting up to the gates, very impressed with yourself, waiting to be let in. What will the look be upon your face when God says, "Pat are you fucking serious, you cannot be serious. Get the fuck out."
What does this tell you about the state of our nation. When a man who is so intolerant, so hateful, is still allowed to do what he does. It tells me that sadly there must be a lot of like mind backwards motherfuckers out there. I wanted to post this onto your website and the 700 Club website, but for some strange reason it won't allow me to. How very convenient, you coward. If later in life you end up getting a rare disease or cancer it won't be Gods wrath, it will be Karma.
My thoughts go out to those caught in this turmoil. Come pay day, I'm going to help and I hope everyone does something. I've heard up to 50,000 perished from some sources and others are saying up to if not exceeding 100,000. 1 death is 1 too many, so this is 50,000 too many. I hope other countries other than just us get involved.
Save the Children are also on the ground providing immediate life-saving assistance.
If you're in the US go here:

In the UK, go here:

Please give what you can.
The Salvation Army are also accepting donations for Haiti.
Just a quick thanks to our customers who have helped us raise £450 in 2 days at my day job. I have also convinced my work mates at the pub I work in part time to donate all of our tips for the for seeable. Thanks guys and girls
im hearing from locals that they are begging doctors without boarders, red cross etc, to protect themselves, many are leaving medic tents, there is much rioting, looting, and violent survival fight or flight about. this sounds quite familiar to our expierence in new orleans. my thoughts and prayers. sendin love and light, and whatever is in my pocket.
oh and to hell with pat robertson
now it's time to focus...not to be partisan.
you don't like what pat robertson has to say right now, ignore him....focus on those people/groups who are working for those suffering in haiti.
if you want to bitch about pat robertson, start a thread somewhere. this is too important of a time or place for it.
everyone, please give what you can. a dollar...anything.
I just donated to Partners in Health. Please help, even five dollars will make a big impact. Why? Because lots and lots of people giving a little bit adds up to a lot. Don't underestimate ability of people to come together. Buy one less bag of chips at the grocery store, one less pack of cigarettes, one less beer at the bar. Nothing is more pure, nothing is more human than a faceless act of self sacrifice.
For Poland I recommend:
Podarnik Polskiej Akcji Humanitarnej
Polski Czerwony Krzyż.
thank you for your help.

Off to Haiti to provide medical care on Wednesday. Stone talks about Partners in Health. Please donate if you can spare it.
Thank you for expressing your thoughts lobb152. I agree that this isn't the most appropriate post for expressing your feelings about complete morons like Pat Robertson and Rush Limbaugh, but I can't help feeling the same way about those two assholes. But you know what...fuck them and all the backwards ass motherfuckers that follow their senseless banter.
We can all say a big "FUCK YOU" to the Pat Robertsons and Rush Limbaughs of the world by generously donating to one of the many causes set up to help devastated Haiti. I recently sent 10 (it seemed an appropriate number)"HAITI" texts to 90999 and I hope that my small contribution will have a big impact on the rescue and aid missions taking. The people of Haiti and the courageous volunteers over there need our help from over here. Please....give generously!
www.yele.org:
"Yéle Haiti is a foundation started by Grammy-Award winning musician, producer and social entrepreneur Wyclef Jean that is changing lives in this desperately poor but optimistic nation."
They know what it's like there and they have one interest only: Haiti and its people!
THANK YOU PEARL JAM!

you can also go to your local starbucks and donate $$. Every penny donated is given to the Red Cross to help fund relief efforts in Haiti. Starbucks alone is donating $1 million to this cause. Whether you donate through starbucks or one of the many other organizations assisting in relief efforts, know that you are helping desperate people. Please donate whatever you are able...every penny makes a difference...
You can also donate to the Opre Foundation and Grupo Caiman, who are working together. I am the president of the Opre Foundation.
For those who worry what their money is really being used for, in light of the investigation into Wyclef Jean's organisation, you can trust us. We don't accept monetary donations. We're an all-voluntary organisation, and only accept donations of supplies, not money. Any money used for anything within the organisation comes out of my pocket. We are only accepting water, rice, powdered milk, and pedialyte. We have already arranged to fly the supplies with a pilot who is donating his services. And if any nurses or doctors in the Miami area would like to join us, we already have one nurse who is going with us.
If you'd like to mail us a package, even if it only has one of the items we're asking for, send us a message at info@oprefoundation.org
Good for you! I'm actually going to Haiti early February with the Vermont relief teams to volunteer as an EMT. If only we had the support of my employer and local Hospital Fletcher Allen Health Care. They are not offering any help or compensation for our time. As of now there are many out of pocket expenses.
Good Luck...God speed!
Thank you JABAKER, and God be with you when you go. I think it is shameful that your employer is being that way about it. Miami and Haiti have always been like sisters. Whenever disaster happened there, Miami helped cos noone else cared, and whenever disaster happened in Miami, despite their poverty, Haiti always lent a hand to us cos noone else cares. So you'd be hard pressed to find a company or employer here that would not be fully supportive. We've all got a bit of a fondness for Haiti and her people.
And many many thanks to those of you who have already contacted us about donations. It is dearly appreciated!
Itunes makes it really easy to donate.
also Wyclef Jean is from Haiti, HAD a music school over there, his site has alot of information and ways to donate.
http://wyclefjean.wordpress.com/
how come there is no mention on here at all about the Ed Vedder download on Itunes for Haiti relief? Beautifully done Eddie!!
