BODY OF WAR released on DVD
The acclaimed Phil Donahue/Ellen Spiro documentary, Body of War is set for DVD release on October 28th. Body of War tells the heart-wrenching tale of our friend and hero Tomas Young who was paralyzed from the chest down after serving in Iraq for just one week. Tomas is forced to deal with the realities of war each and every day. For Tomas, learning to cope with his disability meant finding his voice to speak out against the war in Iraq.

SYNOPSIS
Directed by Phil Donahue and Ellen Spiro, the multi award-winning Body of War splits its time between Tomas's arduous daily reality in Kansas City, MO, and the legislative processes that led up to the invasion of Iraq in 2002. Senatorial speeches and a running tally of pro-war votes are interspliced with intimate footage of Tomas as he navigates through the acute physical and emotional impacts of his injury. A testament to the power of parallel images, the film adeptly juxtaposes the sanitized vantage point of Washington with raw personal experience. In the end, this contrast forces viewers to question the motives, methods, and ever-rising cost of the conflict in Iraq.

Right now after seeing
Right now after seeing this,the flashing images in my head...a now wheelchair bound young man forcing a smile that can only be filled with torment and anger and thoughts of his brother that is "serving our country" over there in this senseless war. The man bearing the t-shirt that says- BUSH LIED, MY SON DIED. People die in wars for what???!!! POWER-MONEY-CONTROL??? It puts us in debt as we watch thousands die! Exactly what purpose can this possibly serve??? All I can come up with to say now is... Anyone know where i can find
Anyone know where i can find updates on Tomas? Just saw the movie for the first time last night and remember hearing over the summer that he had some setbacks and health issues and just wanted to see where i can check up and see how he's doing.
the war has served Bush and
the war has served Bush and his cronies very well. Phenomenal amounts of money that was spent on the war ended up being siphoned off by big-business friends of the Bush administration who were only concerned with making a profit. The war was so expensive that the US was unable to finance the war without selling govt dept to foreign countries, principally China.
So these very clever big-business friends of Bush not only managed to get America to spend all the available money it had on this illegal war, but has also persuaded the American Govt to borrow billions from foreign countries to pump in to the finances of the war which could then be turned into profits. It is such a brilliant plan that
Think what could have been done with this money if it had been used for positive purposes at home? Would anyone else like to see medical care for the poor and/or old, or schools for the ill educated, or retaining for working people who need jobs to just pay rent and feed their children?
The war also diverted all the media away from any stories about problems at home and allowed Bush to get away without anyone questioning his policies in other areas. Discussion about social or economic problems in the US was stifled.

Here we go. Another movie that appeases the cut and run crowd! Where are we going to put the prisoners from GITMO? Do you want them in your town? If so call the White House and let him know. People that want to behead us cannot be reasoned with!

JD - We wouldn't have had to worry about that if we hadn't put them there...and you seem to be missing the point that people are angry because the war was started in the first place....and that eight years of Bush and his war mongers is the reason our country is in such dire straits....i feel i can respect your opinions without having to agree with them, but i totally agree with you that people need to get off their asses and stop whining and start being proactive about the things they believe in......
